Looking for the construction set

i just started playing morrowind a few days ago and i love playing it.I went to this site, and i find out the discovery of plugins. I pick one out, and i love it. But its really annoying with that pop-up every time i start the game! How can i remove the pop-up without the construction set or can i get the set?

Do you mean the one saying master file versions are wrong? Normally, you don't need the CS to fix that, and if you DO use it that way, it adds even MORE clutter. What you want is TESAME, which lets you remove GMST settings. As I understand, these are the normal culprits, and, if the author of a plugin did a decent job, you can easily tell what to remove.

Big thanks. Its just that i read in the "installing plugins" sticky and it said "fire up the construction set" blah blah blah. I like the mod, yay, slave hunters/twin lamps!

Abramul, I think we've all had enough of your "help" around here. Get off my Internet.

GMSTs are not to blame, and, besides, TESAME is not the right tool to use for GMSTs, particularly for a beginner.

What you'd need to get is TESTool (Main Package, Documentation). That will fix both header size mismatches (which causes the version error) and will remove unclean GMST entries, among various other things. If you want a more interactive cleaner, use TESTool for the headers (and levelled list / dialog / object merging) and TESPCD (Main Package, FAQ) for everything else.

TEStools is a forbiddon link btw. I tried out the other program, and did the check all thingy. I auto cleaned it and it tested it. It had two errors: "file missing blah blah ex_nord_door" or something and another warning "one of the files <mod> is dependant on has changed since last save. Saving again will clear the message but not necesarily fix the problems" Argh! i saved already and it still posted this error! Help?

TESPCD will only show the GMST entries that are unclean. Those are all safe to delete.

I don't know what the problem with the TESTool link is. Maybe it's on account of my proxy, but I can access it fine. The file that it points to has been attached to this post.

...And regarding those "problems --" in all likelihood, there aren't any. That message is displayed simply because there is a mismatch between the sizes of your master files and the sizes of the master files used to create one or more of your currently loaded plugins. The engine handles that as a version mismatch.

If many things were screwed around with when Bethesda released their patches, then there could be cause for concern if you have a version mismatch. However, IIRC, most of the patched things are internal mechanisms, and backwards-compatibility hasn't been much of an issue (for instance, when it was brought to Bethesda's attention that a scripting function is misspelled as "GetInvisibile," they left that function alone and added in a correctly-spelled duplicate function that works in the same manner). Besides that, even if there is a data file conflict between two different versions of the game, the engine can handle that quite nicely.

Those files are a result of TESTool's merging of the levelled lists, objects, and dialog. You'd do well to run Morrowind with all of them active, unless you plan to do merging yourself manually.

Read the documentation for more information, and, now that you've let TESTool do its little rampage, you shouldn't run TESPCD.

Thanks, MB, that is quite a lot better. And hermy? You probably won't be doing manual merging unless you're working on a plugin, so don't worry about it. I think they would have to be the last to load, though.

Al Gore plays Morrowind?
