rahaney
I've done megaton and all of zone 8 i'm now north in zone 5 but have yet to go to 3dog - so my question to all those who've completed the game - if you follow the main storyline and then explore when you are sent to a different area would you cover the whole map? I normally play as one of these people who complete an area before advancing the main plot - i don't like finishing the main campaign without having been everywhere as i never play after the ending i.e free roaming. Also i dont want to trigger off quests in the wrong way as if part way through already just by exploring as you don't get the back story So advice plzThanks, R
jaysus
you can skip quite some parts of the main quest if you either explore like crazy or are very witty... nevertheless the whole main quest probably leads you to maybe 5% of the whole map (not including the way you walk from mission to target) i dunno exactly what you mean by zones tho, bethesda games dont have typical zones like for example gothic... zones in this game only define loading borders for the game engine and to save you some pc performance but not to shut off certain parts for story reasons (most of the time at least) you cant roam free after you complete the story anyway, the game just ends (beth acknowledged that failure yet) so just head out and explore! i didnt come across a quest yet which could break by visiting a certain location too early
rahaney
Thanks for the response. Having done a bit of reading i've found that the main storyline compenents send you to all 4 corners of the map anyway so you can explore that region and its environs when your there. The misc & location-specific quests in the area are sometimes triggered by talking to people at the main storyline locations - otherwise you'll enter them along a different path - the quests won't break since beth must have planned for this possiblity but sometimes they don't make complete sense initially. Would that technically stop you from doing the quest or just not receiving the bonus?
GodOfAtheism
Kill the Mirelurks in Anchorage befor doing moiras observation quest and there are probably others.Would that technically stop you from doing the quest or just not receiving the bonus? No. The quest only says you can't kill any while setting your stuff up. So if they're all dead before you start, then logically you can't kill any of them while actually doing the quest. :) That's what I did, and yes, I got the bonus.
