Btcc22 Posted January 5, 2005 Share Posted January 5, 2005 Disk dirty error? Sounds like a failing DVD drive. These can be easily replaced. Open it, take the drive out and replace it with a standard DVD drive and take the front off and put the Xbox Front on. OK, so the tray won't look the same, but at least it *ought* to work. I wouldn't be surprised judging by the age if it's fitted with a Thompson DVD drive. These are the most common ones to fail and cause dirty disc errors as well as loading failures in games. You can usually tell when it's acting up because it'll start making loud whirring noises until it's sorted itself. It's a right pain when this happens to people on Xbox Live as you just get "Player Failed to Load" (Halo 2) and you can never tell what blighter is causing the problems...
