2pac4eva7
i installed BSA commander today and i unpacked both my oblivion textures, and meshes into a new folder. everything worked fine and i now had a 2 folders full of Oblivion meshes and textures. But then i went to my oblivion data folder and i found that all vanilla meshes and textures were simply not there. It seems all that it did was move both the folders out of oblivion/data and into my BSA commander Out folder. my bsa commander out folder is not in my oblivion directory, its on the desktop. so then i tried firing up the game and everything still works, there is no missing meshes and textures and everything is fine. how is this possible if none of the vanilla textures of meshes are even in the folder. I was under the impression that bsa commander did more than simply move folders out of my oblivion directory. does anyone know how to fix this, or is this what bsa commander is supposed to do and i am just an idiot. can i just drag both folders back in the data and be fine? any help would be appreciated thnx
BossDweebe
Your Oblivion Data folder are not where your vanilla Oblivion lives.Oblivion Vanilla lives in the BSA files.Your mods go in the Data folder sub folders. The game engine first reads the BSA and then the data folders and thenalters the game according to what is in the Data folder, aided by whatthe esp's direct. Not all mod use esp's - EDIT:Some replace items with a new version which is placed in the Data folders/sub folders. The Data folder is a mirror, if that is the correct term, of the vanilla Oblivion data structure. BSA commander has been around a long time, and I suppose some/manymay still use it, but OBMM will also unpack the BSA.s. The reason for unpacking BSA's is to give you access to the vanilla files forthe purpose of moding. You can find a particular mesh/texture in the BSA fileand copy it to a place of your choosing and then use various programs to alter it.The BSA always remains intact so you don't break Oblivion. If we were able to mod directly to the BSA,s we would end up in a world of hurt.
