Fallout 3 Base mods

I am no coder and have very limited modding experience but I am full of ideas and when my time frees up this summer I shall make a huge effort to get modding on Fallout 3.

 

The one thing I have seen with many of the Fallout 3 "house expansions" like Tranquility House mod which I thought was cool except for the (imo) lame

exterior of the pre-war house with greenery and such. Below the ground it was cool. Same with many other mods they have awesome undergrounds with research labs, hospitals, armories, and bars and such. But I notice a few things missing.

 

Realistically in a game like Fallout you would have a base with a wall or some kind of barricade around the main building which would then contain the underground. This is what I see lacking from ALOT of the mods. They have like 2 guards out side the door to some house or hole in the ground. Noooo you want a wall with guards and extra defenses to have time to respond to attacks and such. Combined with a fort and the underground ideas I think this would make a great mod. Also another thing that I believe should be in these "fort mods" are prison cells. From what I have seen of the recent Enclave Commander mods that "take them back to base for brainwashing" looks very cool and to be implemented properly and to add a pretty unique feature to any mod that implements it. Having the Vertibird lift off the prisoner and transport back to your base into a prison?

 

Fort should include:

Perimeter

Guards or security of some sort

Armory with passworded door

Weapon Research / Research lab

Barracks

General Area

Operations Room (Like a command center)

 

With these things combined with other mods as well as new ones created I think this would bring a whole new way to "rule" the wastes or at least have your organization.

 

Now if what I have said has already been mentioned and brought up ignore me lol. I am relatively new to the forums.

I though about creating a mod kind of like that. you start out with a small shack, and as you go around the wasteland, you recruit more followers simply by talking to them and/or completing quests for them. As you collect more followers, your base grows and grows. Like if you recruit a doctor, your base gets a mecial lab. Sooner or later, someone will create minigames, and they can be added as well.

 

Its much like the game series suikoden(spelling?).

I have a similar idea for recruiting ppl in my Executive Vault project. The Vault will have all the facilities you need but no-one to man them. I was planning an ongoing quest to recruit the necessarily ppl to man my vault once you have it all up and running.

Although coming up with ideas is fairly easy, modding takes alot of patience. I learned it the hard way. I quit just about half of the mods I do because of GECK crashes, major random bugs, and CTDs etc. Good luck, and I hope to see your mods in the near future.
