Modding Kasumi is different?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I'm trying to do a outfit texture mod for Kasumi and am stuck dead in my tracks. There's obviously something different about her as compared to the other team members. The issue I'm running into is that she's all shiny (like a mirror) with colors being off (though that might be because of the shininess, can't be sure yet). Here's what I've done, I'd appreciate if someone could let me know what I'm missing.

  1. grabbed the diff, normal, spec, and spwr files from the game.
  2. edited the diff file until the outfit looked the way it should
  3. used the diff as the basis for a normal file, with trial and error gradually reduced the detail until its about right
  4. Modified the spec file to line up with the changes I made, not much was done there, the contents are mostly black and dark gray
  5. Exported all as DDS using nvidia texture tool, BC1, and imported into the game via ME3Tweaks
  6. loaded and everything was borked, tried changing everything I could think of to no avail
  7. added the same texture files to Miranda as a test and the new outfit was fine (obviously mapped to the wrong body parts, but otherwise correct)

The only thing I can conclude is that there's something different about the Kasumi model. This would also seem to be confirmed in that the diff file for every character in the game is the full color image of the outfit (and in ME3Tweaks, the preview image also shows that for Kasumi), but when the diff file is exported, what you have is file where 90+% is just transparent space and then a couple semi-transparent lines or elements make up the rest of the space.

Really stumped on how to get past this. My testing with Miranda tells me that I could successfully mod anyone else in the game, but there's something different about Kasumi. If there is someone here who could let me know what that difference is or where I've gone wrong, I'd appreciate it. I see there are mods for Kasumi, so it can be done, I just can't figure out how. Please help.

Thank you.
