Morrovvind
Hey, I know this topic has been done a lot, but I have read through a lot of these topics on Nexus forums and other sites to no avail. I've tried researching computer parts, but with no previous knowledge, it takes me hours to try and comprehend what all the numbers mean, and I end up body slamming myself onto my bed in frustration. It's a miracle I can even post on the Internet at all. I've gone ahead and assembled a list of items that in the end I'm hoping will somehow fit together into a working computer, and I'll also list my budget and what I plan on using it for as well. Can anybody here help a lowly console gamer get into PC gaming by suggesting better parts and telling me if it will all be compatible and fit together in the end? BUDGET: $1000-$2000PURPOSE: GAMING (Skyrim, Fallout), VIDEO EDITING (I'd like to do what Gopher does), MODDING Anyway, for Skyrim I'm going to be using SMIM, WATER, Amidianborn Book of Silence, ELFX, as well as a couple of script heavy mods like Frostfall. I'd like a quieter computer delivering a constant 60 FPS at Max Ultra Settings at a high resolution like 1080, without needing to overclock anything. I probably won't use an ENB, but if I do it will be one that has the lowest hit on performance to where I would be above 30 FPS all the time. I found all that on NewEgg. I'm really not sure if it will all fit together or if there are any better parts or deals out there. But I do know that I'd like Intel CPU and MOBO, a G.Skill RAM, and an NVidia GPU, which I think I have in there. I wanted the Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 but it said it was out of stock. I'm aware that my list does not have a cooler/fan, or a monitor/keyboard/mouse etc. I'd definitely appreciate any advice on this computer build (like telling me if it will even fit together haha), or if you have anywhere I could go to learn more. kalikka
Are you going to OC?If the answer is no, take Xeon 1230v3 and h87 fatal1ty (or similar) mobo. Editing likes HT/i7, xeon is an i7.As for the PSU, check xfx 550W.GPU... Make sure if you buy older models (newest models are gtx7X0) that the price is cheap.Case: I prefer Define R4. To help with finding the right GPU, here are some performance statistics in % in different resolutions: http://www.techpowerup.com/mobile/reviews/AMD/R9_290X/27.html Edited October 25, 2013 by kalikka
Miguelr23
a gtx 670 2gb may run out of ram at 1080p with some texture mods/AA x4 or x8 so i suggest you to get a card with at least 3GB of vram(it may cause stutters, crashes, fps drop etc...)at the same price you get a r9 280x with 3gb of vram and it actually performs like a gtx 770(if you get a r9 280x make sure you either get a Asus DC2 or a Sapphire Toxic)also a tip if you overclock your cpu: get a custom cooler because Haswells cpus run very hot(80º Celcius++++)
Morrovvind
Thanks! That helped, I'll look at better graphics cards, I prefer Nvidia so I'll probably go with the GTX 780. I'll also look at a different CPU if that one overheats easily, although I don't want to overclock.

I'll also look at a different CPU if that one overheats easily, although I don't want to overclock. They only heat up because of the crappy TIM inside the IHS (integrated heatsink). And this goes for all ivy/haswell CPU's.So only after OC they are affected by it. And AMD is known for being the "sauna" of the CPU market :ermm: Edited October 25, 2013 by kalikka

About a 5% performance increase from preliminary benchmarks. There's probably no point to wait, unless Nvidia makes significant changes very quickly. Werne
it has been leaked rumored that will be faster than a titanWhat got "leaked" are some specs which show little improvement over the GTX 780, and that is questionable. What's been rumored is that GTX 780 Ti might be faster than Titan in order to compete with AMD's R9 290X, which is also questionable. Leaks and rumors are two different things, but they are both nothing compared to proves and facts... and we have no proves and facts. So the only way to see what Nvidia is releasing is to wait until it gets released. Maybe it rocks, maybe it flops, but no one can know for sure until we see benchmarks and official specifications.
