calamaricakes Posted August 3, 2022 Share Posted August 3, 2022 hello! i had the idea to start a little mirelurk farm, and since i'm using a mod that lets me place mirelurk nests to produce eggs i thought it would be a cute idea to assign the mirelurks to the nests - plus, it would be nice to be able to assign creatures like deathclaws and such to defense posts or points, or maybe even just regular farming. my request/idea is for a mod that allows captured tamed creatures to function as settlers. it'd be fine if they increased the population and required food/water/beds/happiness. i'd also be fine with this only applying to just the large animals, or maybe even just mirelurks or deathclaws. my focus here is more about flavor and creating interesting settlements than immersion, honestly my main idea is something lightweight that allows you to assign animals to crops and jobs - however, a larger overhaul that makes them more fleshed out functional settlers could have many additional features, such as troughs/markers that animals would stick around (maybe for animals with nests, an option for a marker could be a nest?), or more jobs you could assign animals to (imagine having a deathclaw or a yao guai hunting for your settlement). i would also imagine they'd have to have different animal beds, perhaps some new things that increase happiness for animal-specific settlers, some way to permanently tame animals, maybe even naming them to allow differentiation. i have tons of ideas for this sort of mod, honestly, and would be happy to discuss it further! i know permanently tamed animals, naming said animals, and accessorizing them are both features of the beast master mod, however as far as i'm aware this mod doesn't allow you to, say, have a peaceful settlement of deathclaws that farm tatos, as a random totally-super-lore-friendly-and-immersive example some other mod ideas/features that might be nice in other mods:-the troughs/markers idea as a separate mod. honestly it's annoying to want to create a pen or enclosure for an animal, only for them to wander off and go sit in the corner of the workshop area for some reason, so even without a full overhaul of how tamed animals work this would be very nice to have-maybe instead of assigning animals to jobs, you could assign settlers to animals, and they'd produce food (maybe even place eggs in the workshop?) in general, some mod that expands on and allows you to truly have a realized animal farm-in addition to the farming idea, perhaps houses (like dog or cat houses) for the animals? could also function as a job point or trough of some sorts, maybe increase settlement happiness thank you for reading! i hope this inspires someone to look into this sort of idea Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
