Ranokoa
Ok i just figured out a very important part of installing TES4Gecko and would like to share it with everyone... I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FLIPPIN RUN THE THING!!!!!! Ok i put the files like it said wherever the heck i wanted, i copy and pasted what it said and put the install directory which is thisC:\Documents and Settings\Eli\My Documents\My Games\Geckothats the directory. BUT it wont run. Says it cant find the specified whatever or whatever. Can someone tell me how the HECK to install tes4gecko? where do i put what. what do i click, do i go to properties like i have been or is this wrong, D*MN TEAM DIDNT ELABORATE and now im completely confusd because i follow their exact directions and successfully fail... hmm.. i like the sound of that... Successful failure. Hmm... ANYWAYS.. no not anyways that sounds awesome, successfully failed... but aside from that no matter how awesome that sounds. Can someone tell me how the bloody fricknickels to install this thing? oh god dangit, i did it again.. fricknickels.. that sounds awesome too! DARNIT i love me.. sometimes.. Thanks ~Ranokoa PS: No i am not currently high at this time it will be a while since 420 destroyed me although it may appear i am such. DONT DO DRUGS unless their fun, but no seriously dont do them even if it makes you cool, i mean even if it makes you the most popular person in your entire school and or social clique and get very very well respected and date and possibly sleep with the best looking chick you ever did lay your eyes on even if she happens to be asian, japanese to be more specific and yes they are flippin hawt and almst always perfectly proportioned and wonderfully sculpted as if god had taken a dump shaped of himself but a female... although they do make their old are not exactly something wonderful.. anyways im getting way off topic and will stop here before i get too inappropriete considering i can not find my backspace button and the years of eating at this desk have all but destroyed right click. BossDweebe
Tess4Geko = ancient history. Do people still use it ?I even forget what it did. You want tools for Oblivion ?Get Oblivion Mod Manager - Nif Scope - Tess Construction Set, and maybe DDS converter.A lot of people also like Wrye Bash. OBSE - also required for many mods to run. Ranokoa
hehe, im no newbie to modding but thanks for the thought. TES4Gecko is still very modern, not even a year old. Converts ESP to ESM and ESM to ESP, runs through and can edit files without opening them, it just does a whole bunch of junk! Anyways, TES4Gecko is not ancient by far, i have yet to find something that does all it does and is better. Unfortunetly i cant USE the dang thing. Plus one of its major functions is extremely needed right now for Project Oblivion.. btw why recommend all those things after seeing my signature, im a member of a large modding project and a leader of another, i think i know how to mod. but still, thanks for trying to help. Vagrant0
Tess4Geko = ancient history. Do people still use it ?I even forget what it did. You want tools for Oblivion ?Get Oblivion Mod Manager - Nif Scope - Tess Construction Set, and maybe DDS converter.A lot of people also like Wrye Bash. OBSE - also required for many mods to run.Tes4Gecko is still a valid program, and is needed for working with larger, more complex mod projects. No other program handles moving of worldspaces, showing mod details, merging worldspaces, converting between esm/esp, changing master records (easily), splitting mods, automatically cleaning mods, generating silent files voices with .lip files, changing mod description, and a few other things. Between Wrye bash and TES4Edit, these things can also be done, but it is a bit more complicated, and when working on very large mods, has a much harder time doing anything without screwing up that mod. I use Tes4Gecko all the time, nothing else will do what I need to do without either making things worse, or several dozen extra steps. Your response is a bit condescending, and non-useful. OBMM and OBSE will not solve his problem. Nifscope does something totally unrelated, same with DDS converter. It can be a bit hard to install since it requires having java installed, and some changes to the shortcut path to make it work right based on your own hardware. Installation---------------------------------- To install this utility, place the TES4Gecko.jar and the TES4Gecko-Silence MP3 andLIP files into a directory of your choice. To run the utility, create a program shortcut and specify "javaw -Xmx1024m -jar <install-directory>\TES4Gecko.jar" as the program to run, where <install-directory> should be replaced with the directory where you extracted the jar file. If the path for java isn't set on your system, you will need to specify the full path to javaw. A sample program shortcut is included that specifies \Tmp as the install directory. The -Xmx1024m argument specifies the maximum heap size in megabytes (the example specifies a heap of 1024Mb, or 1Gb). You can increase the size if you run out of space merging very large plugins. Note that Windows will start swapping if the Java heap size exceeds the amount of available storage and this will significantly impact performance. The Sun Java 1.5 runtime is required. You can download JRE 1.5 from http://java.com/download/index.jsp. If you are unsure what version of Java is installed on your system, open a command prompt window and enter "java -version". BossDweebe
I stand corrected - Just haven't hear any mention of Tess4 Gecko in so long.I guess that's because most of what I read, and do, is the more mundane.I thought it was an old dds converter or something. :whistling: Should have checked shouldn't I. I didn't pay any attention to your signature it was more the way you described your problem. I only mentioned the other stuff as I thought he sounded like he needed it. Anyway hats off to you who get down and dirty with the real nuts and bolts stuff.esp>esm, splitting and cleaning, and so on. Vagrant was already a hero. I'll add you other two to the list.
