Unable to load any armor mods

Hello everyone,

I am new to the site and fairly new to modding games. I went a little overboard when I first got into things and downloaded quite a few mods. I followed the order of http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30936/? and got all the recommended mods and essential mods.

Mods that I am positive were working are:

Visible Windows

Birds of Skyrim

Lush Trees and Grass

Statis Flora

Perfect Whiterun

A Quality World Map

Enhanced Snow

And more

Basically, to me it appeared that anything inproving the appearance of the world would work just fine. However, anything in terms of armor/NPCs is not working.

I tried:

Knight of Thorns Armor

Assassins Creed Nightingale retexture

Immersive Armors

Cloaks of Skyrim

Silver Dragon Armor

Nightmare armor

and many more

With all of these, any time I would loot them from chests/bodies they would show up with the name/stats, but there would be no display image for them. When I equip them, they make that part of my character invisible. When I see an NPC with the armor on, they would be invisible. For example, I encounted a bandit wearing ringmail from one of the armor packs. His torso was invisible. I killed him and saw that on his body he was wearing the ringmail.

I saved right in front of this particular bandit to test things. I turned ALL other mods off aside from that one and it still gave the same issue. So I just went into the Nexus Mod Manager (Which is how I do all my mods) and disabled EVERY mod except the Live Another Life mod and the Assassins Creed mod. I kept these two because it gave me a quick way to skip the beginning and loot the assassins armor in Riverwood. The Live Another Life mod worked just fine, but once I got into Riverwood, I saw the backpack that contains the armor. I loot the armor and get the same issue.

I tried to read into this a little bit and a lot of people have issues with load order. I was following the load order using BOSS and when that did not work, that is when I got rid of everything and only used two mods. Alternate start and assassins creed. Adjusted the order and kept having the same issue.

If anyone knows what is going on or how I can resolve this issue and start enjoying mods, please do help.

Thanks so much in advance!

This is a classic symptom of missing resource files (meshes in this case). It means you have the esp plugin containing records of those items and leveled lists and outfit changes that distribute them to NPCs, but you did not install the mod properly and the BSA or meshes in case of loose files have not been installed into the correct directory. It's not related to load order.

I assume you are using a mod manager to exclusively handle your mod un/installation?

When I say 'exclusively handle un/installation of mods', I meant you are not simultaneously using the Steam Workshop subscription method to install mods (since it's not a 'real' mod manager). That could be responsible for causing the problem. The other likely possibility is that this is an issue relating to body replacer mods. If you are using a custom body replacer, but did not install the default armour/clothing replacers intended to complement that custom body, it can also generate symptoms like this in game.

You can manually verify that the resource files from armour mods are installed properly, by checking to see if the BSA or the mesh and texture files (if they are kept as loose files by the mod author) are in the appropriate directories. Try Immersive Armor. You should see this file

hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.bsa

along with the esp for the mod, in your ..../data/ folder.

I downloaded the immersive armor and ran it with mod organizer and once it finished it told me there was one ore more BSA files and I chose to unpack those. Launched Skyrim and Immersive armor appears to be working now! I will spend a bit of time checking each armor mod I had and seeing if they all function correctly. Thank you SO much!
