I'm trying to convert some armors and I'm using Blender for the first time. I have the two meshes I'm trying to use saved as .blend files and, after using the append function to import the second mesh, I can't figure out how to get them both to be visible at the same time so that I can fit one to the other.

The only way I can find that will even let me swap views is by selecting this little thing that says "Browse Mesh Data to be linked."

Also, I should clarify that I opened the original .nifs in Blender 2.49, saved them as .blend files, and am now trying to edit them in Blender 2.68. The interface looks drastically different depending on whether I open the .blend file or not, and I'm now also trying to append the .blend files into new ones that have nothing in them, but the meshes don't appear.
