roquefort
So how many gigabloodybytes of disk space and memory does this latest Windows manifestation require before you can run any programs on it?
Qwaxalot
So how many gigabloodybytes of disk space and memory does this latest Windows manifestation require before you can run any programs on it? Actually, from all reports, Windows 7 is quite a bit faster then Vista or XP, and is much better about resource management. The major issues in sight are drivers for older hardware, and are being rapidly solved. :yucky:
Michlo
The fact that you used a torrent for the "latest build" is your downfall. I'm an official beta tester and we're warned time and again not to grab those. They are buggy and incomplete, released for particular tests and circumstances and NEVER meant for beta testing. The supposed RC1 candidate which was floating around the torrents proved not to even be real. I strongly recommend that you stick to the official beta only. amelmastema
Making oblivion/fallout 3 have problems in exterior cells is not exactly a downfall imho. everything else works. Perhaps considered a major flaw by this community, I can obviously see that. As for the beta builds, thousands people install each of these builds even though it may possibly not be intended, they certainly work for some people. I haven't tried any installs that appear tainted, easy to detect the "l33t" names and read the comments about that particular torrent. Also microsoft is giving out free official keys for quite a while and the beta will last to august they say. So, for the rest of the people who would consider trying this, where do you suggest they get this original build since microsoft is not supplying it ? I do not intend to be condescending I am genuinely interested in windows 7. btw. what is the difference between a person with an official key and a offical beta tester, the mailing list ? And my issue.. I tried removing all mods that modify the cells I have problem with to no event. Although when I reactivated all my mods the game ran smoothly and I harvested herbs for over an hour outside without any crashes.

To test, in the ...\Documents\mygames\oblivion\Oblivion.ini file locate: bMusicEnabled=1bSoundEnabled=1 And change both 1's to 0 This will turn off music and sfx. If problem is resolved, either update drivers, or consider resetting codecs Codec reset utilities: K-lite Nightmare

amelmastema
It crashes outside even with sound disabled. What is so unique about the games outdoors except the graphics.. I wonder if there are any other test I can do or if I should install a windows xp on a seperate partition to test it there.

Two other tweaks to experiment with: bDSoundHWAcceleration=1 (change to 0) "iMaxImpactSoundCount=32" to =
