madman132
With Mods you can do impossible Things. Most of the Time, a mod is an .esp file that you have to copy to the "data" folder of the Oblivion Installation. Then you start up the Launcher, which has the "Data Files" Menu. Click there, then click on the mod you just copied into the data folder. Then click "ok" and start the Game. Just yesterday, I whipped together a little mod for a Friend of mine. He hates the weight limit. "Gothic" functions very well without the weightlimit. So i made him a mod so that he has a Feather Spell with 10000 Feather which costs ten magicka Points to cast. There are Mods for just about everything. Want a new House for your Char? You will be lost in the bajillion Housemods. Want a better Horse? Why would you, there are Dragons and flying Carpets. There are mods for more money, less money, better looking money and Mods to make enemies literally explode. Now here is something to draw all the males in: There are mods for naked Ladies. Some of these let you tweak the Cupsize. From "A" to "H" Cups if you are into Watermelon Landslides. Aside from the inevitable Pr0n Mods there are also many many Quest mods which are modeled to fit in the Elderscrolls lore. Some Mods will change the Music, others will change the interface. There are mods for just about everything. If you have Oblivion for the xbox you're really missing out. "Oblivion" is an extreme Case however. Most games are not that different on the PC Version. But the "console" alone is Reason enough to get the PC Version. You can play around with about a million console Commands. If there where no mods for Oblivion at all i still rather get the PC version, just for the console commands.Which was reason enough for me to buy mass effect for PC. Spawning a mako in the Citadel is awesome :D"GTA IV" is the only game both available to Xbox and PC where i think about getting the xbox version and thats only because they did a really good Job with annoying the Customer to Death. bben46
With the xbox, you get to play the game the way they want you to play. With the PC and mods you get to play the way you want to play. It's not even the same game. Those console fanboys who tell you they have better graphics have never seen Oblivion on a Hi rez 25 inch wide screen monitor and some of the mod texture enhancements installed. Or heard the sounds of Oblivion from a 5.1 audio system piped through a fully amplified surround sound system. Of course, a cheap off the shelf PC with the minimum specs will still look and perform like a cheap PC with minimum requirements. If you can, get one that can really do Oblivion right. You need to understand that you will spend some time playing with your computer rather than playing the game. It's not at all like a console where you plug in the game and play. Every computer is different. Even if it left the factory identical to thousands of others by the time you load a game it has become modified to suit you and is no longer the same as the rest. Every program you install makes it more different and more personal. If you play with mods, you will learn something about file structure - or you won't play with mods. Here's a good comparison for this (360 vs PC graphics) - the gist being, 360 is better than lower end PC, slightly better than/equal to a mid-range, and a high-end PC laughs at the 360 :)
bben46
Very nice comparison. And it shows what an older GeForce 7900 GTX graphics card can do. Now you need to find the same or a similar image using a newer graphics card and one of Qarl's texture enhancing mods.
