For more information use the Link at the end of this article. First of allIf you use Windows Vista, install the Game to another Location. For example D:Games…You also should backup your "clean" Data folder before installing Mods. It saves time if something went wrong. Here an example for a "clean" Data-Folder in C:Program FilesBethesda SoftworksFallout3http://www.loaditup.de/files/352561.gifIcons may look different Installing Mods Mods come as package -> unpack them to your Desktop by using a tool like 7zip Now, you have unpacked and the result is:there is a Data folder -> copy the content of the downloaded Data folder into the Data folder of your gamethere is no Data folder, but other files & folders -> copy that into your game Data folder All folders like Textures, Meshes, Sound and files with ending *.esp or *.esm belong into the data dir:http://www.loaditup.de/files/352572.gif To get Mods working For many Mods (e.g. Body Replacer) you need Archivinalidation -> use ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated and/or FOMM If you use an Archivinvalidation.txt file instead of FOMM or AI-Invalidated, set bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 to 1 in your Fallout.ini found here: My Documents/My Games/Fallout3 Check your G.E.C.K. Mods (*.esp) at your Launcherhttp://www.loaditup.de/files/352563.jpg --> finished, start the game =========================================================General Tips Mods are best installed by your own.Try to avoid extracting something directly into your Game Data DirThere could be a ReadMe -> It`s recommended to read it before you install a ModMake a savegame that is "clean". -> You could need it later - just to be sureIf you have installed a Mod by your self, you`ll know how to remove itOnly add one Mod by one. -> Test it.If you install a plenty of Mods, you`ll probably have to spend a plenty of time to figure out, why your game is crashingIf something went terrible wrong, you will be lucky if you have Backed up your Data folder Reinstalling Fallout 3Uninstall Fallout3 & GFWL -> it is possible that there are various GFWL entries in your System ControlThere are two folders left: Game Dir & My Games folder -> delete or rename them to backup -> Be careful with your backed up data, avoid using old *.ini filesClean registry (e.g. by CCleaner or RegCleaner) & defrag your hard drive RebootInstall Fallout3Install the latest Patch which fits to your Game version or use the Live Update Sometimes it is recommended to use the Fake Patch & the Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch Sometimes Modders get their file structures not correct.In that case you could try to correct this by your own. Use a tool like FO3 Archive Utility to open the *.bsa archives (e.g. Fallout - Textures.bsa) to get an idea, how the folder structure has to look like.
