Mod Request for an overhaul of the webswinging system.

I've been thinking about this for a very long time. I will do what I can to learn the necessary formulas so that I can clarify this request time.

 

I've been waiting for this moment since Spider-Man 2: The Game. It had, up until now, the best webswinging system ever. I'm pretty sure every game since had the sad nineties cartoon cloud-interfacing web-line. I was glad to see Marvel's Spiderman had a good anchor-point system.

 

Now that it's on PC I think the community can perfect what was so very nearly flawless.

 

Areas that I feel need improvement...

 

Gravity

There needs to be an increase in acceleration of decent over time. Every foot of distance fallen should increase the rate of decent by a fixed amount. It doesn't have to be 32ft/s^2, but if we could get close to that effect it would go a long way.

 

Conservation of Momentum

This is vital. This single aspect would turn this game into a physics traversal wonderland. A dream come true. I have a feeling faster speeds would wreck both FPS and all of the amazing fire-escape\water tower set animations, so some max speed cap might be inevitable. Would a liberal use of time dilation at high speeds fix this?

 

Pendulum

The drop off in speed on the upswing and an increase in speed during decent would be a huge addition. Also the ability to effect it through changing the center of gravity with the movement stick, like pumping your legs on a swing-set. Something about angular momentum and the moment of release also, but this is where my physics fails.

 

It would be great if there were consequences for poor swinging, like strong impacts effecting health or breaking windows. Misc. edit: if the camera could be unlocked during the time-dilated targeting mode, so that you could look in a full 360o ? sphere ?.

 

I'm going to go download that Humble Bundle full of textbooks I impulse bought two years ago, and see if I can teach myself a freshman's level of physics so I'm not so useless in this monumental project.

 

If you are already working on this I'll volunteer for rigorous endless playtesting in bland blank sandboxes for you.
