Thor.
I think i am sold with this single review, the gtx780ti is a solid card, and by far out performs a single 7970 in crossfire and beats the r290x in benchmarks. The prices i have come across with the r290x seem nearly identical to the price of the gtx780ti, depending on the make. I'm waiting fro after market coolers before i buy, which i bet would be until after Christmas. http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8674879&Sku=EVG-102110832&csid=ITD&recordsPerPage=10&body=REVIEWS#CustomerReviewsBlock Edited November 15, 2013 by Thor. spookycandy
The 780ti indeed outperforms the r290x in benchmarks, and IMO feels the better card for the price. If there was a 6GB version I would jump on it. If heat is an issue for you, stick with nvidia and do not do SLI. The 780ti will be all you will need. It will out perform SLI in terms of price vs performance and will generate a lot less heat than most other cards. If you have a lot of heat issues I'd recommend either getting a new case, looking into water cooling, or evaluating your current cooling set-up. Thor.
I have no heat issues, just i rather have a card that runs cool for overclocking when the time comes for a change, plus the noise that fan makes when it powers up is getting old. I have a full tower Antec 1200 case, so air flow is not a issue. I have 2 7950's Gigabyte windforce editions in my case right now, so would like a change of pace. Also BEST review ever!!! We actually own that case. For a plastic case it's really not bad. Tons of airflow. Haven't felt the need to replace it. I have the TJ07 from Silverstone. It's dated, and pricy for what you get, but I love the layout. The only one I would have considered instead would have been the FT02. Both in silver because I love a silver case. http://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/files/images/silverstone_tj07_1.jpg
Thor.
That case would be blocking the air intake of my power supply, its a open concept design with maximum airflow in mind, the psu i have is also a antec but it has facing up air out take so it would be blocking airflow from the psu. http://www.jbox.ca/images/D/antec-twelve-hundred-v3-computer-case_inside.jpg comes with built in fan controllers to  hmm that evga card would look sweet in my antec case, the black evga look would match perfectly. ermacos
I bought this one few days ago, I am not going for extreme water cooling or watercolling at all, but this case fits without moding a 280 and with some moding, a 360 rad... Max for me is 2 gpus, so I consider this case as the best of its price tag... And I also called the service today and took the big step to name them my final choice... for the gpu  The gpu is 11.2', as a result my old case is away to small for it. Thats why i took something it can fit them all. Edited November 19, 2013 by ermacos
Werne
@ermacos CM HAF is a decent case airflow-wise, but I find it less than satisfying for the price. It feels... meakly and cheap. You could've just ripped out the 3.5" compartments from your old case and suspended the drives in the 5.25" bays (or mount them on bay rafters), then you could accommodate for the large card without spending more money on a case and go through the trouble of disassembling and transferring everything from one case to the other. I always rip the 3.5" bays cause I don't need them, I suspend my HDDs in 5.25" bays using industrial o-rings which makes drives dead-quiet and gives me more room inside, double win. ermacos
my old case is very small, "storm scout" it could fit up to 23.9cm gpus, my gtx480 was touching the walls!! 24.1cm... The new card is 29! The case is the same materials as a haf x... here is the proof and look what it can fit... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opf6nN0ndr0 and in overclockers they have a guide to mod it for a 360 rad... I wanted storm-trooper case, but its out of stock and they will have it again in february!! Because its almost the end of the year and all distributors sell their stocks and clossing their annum logistic books... clearance. After all, haf XM case have amazing reviews and the size is just right. Anyway my final decision came just after I took the offers for the cards... I choose ASUS direct cu2 OC gtx780 , I may change it gain, because its out of stock and asus have limited distribution for this card, as its a custom gpu....If they cannot find it the next following weeks, I may get a custom cooler 290. The new 290s will come in 3 weeks. If that happens, I will get an Asus direct cu2 OC radeon 290 , Edited November 19, 2013 by ermacos
Thor.
I found a awesome solution for the cooling part for the r290 in the mean while before the after market coolers come out, heck it might be cheaper to do this then getting a third party. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/r9-290-accelero-xtreme-290,3671.html caution though may void your warranty. Still the ti is looking much more appealing every day. Edited November 22, 2013 by Thor.
ermacos
Ive searched that long ago, if you check amazon reviews, there is a big number of customers that destroyed their gpus ... lol  And you definitely lose your warranty, because this solution is permanent. I may don't have to pick another card, because they said, "they will have it" in one and a half weeks". But till then, the custom solution 290s and 290x's will come. I also learned, that AMD made a restriction/NDA to 3rd companies (asus, msi, gigabyte, etc), not to make custom cooling solutions till middle of December or something. I believe, that was the stupidest think they ever done. So I lifted an NDA to them as well. Edited November 22, 2013 by ermacos
