Installation failed text=Your temp directory "C:\Users\MyName\AppData\Roaming\Vortex\temp" contains too many files. You need to clean up that directory. Files in that directory should be safe to delete (they are temporary after all) but some will be inaccessible, just ignore those.

I deleted the files in the specified directory, retried the mod install, no joy same error. Restarted vortex, retried, no joy, same error.

This sounds like a Windows problem rather than a Vortex problem. I searched for a 'too many files error in Windows' and got these responses:

Is this the same error you received? If so, it appears Windows has a limit as to how many files a directory (folder) can contain. Trying to install the mod you wanted may have pushed you over this limit.

 

There might also be a limit to how many mod files DAO can handle. I have played a modded Dragon Age Origins game in a long time. So, I don't remember if there is a mod limit.

Thanks I'll look into those suggestions. Not going to hold my breath to be honest. This mod was working and had been reinstalled using the previous version of Vortex. This stopped working after installing dot-Net 6. dot-Net 6 was the only change. If I delete the files in temp and restart Vortex it gets populated with Vortex auto-gen files. Other mods reinstall just fine and the new mods I've used install fine. It's just this mod throwing the too many files error. Might be the universe telling me it's unhappy with my mod selections.

Coming a little late, but I have the same exact problem. Reinstalled everything several times now, from the game to completely deleting directories etc and starting from scratch. In a given collection of 200+ mods 90% will always install correctly the other 10% suffer the 'temp dir contains too many files' error. Emptying the temp dir does nothing and from the looks of it the temporary directory/folder itself doesn't actually contain that many files. Its specific mods (there are many) that cause this error in vortex and only after I finally updated recently to the newest version and update dot-net.
