Importing sounds into Fallout 3

Hi all,

I am new to this forum so I apologize if this is not the right place to post this topic or if the question is answered elsewhere. I have taken time to try find a solution on my own to no avail. I have just starting using the GECK I am attempting to import some dialogue I have recorded as a sound. I am trying to create a new sound under the Miscellaneous/Sound section of the GECK object window. I have a decent familiarity with the editor from time spent with it on Morrowind.

I set up a new sound file and select my test audio wav file (I have made sure that it fits the sound frequency etc needed for Fallout 3) and it shows that the selection was successful.

My problem is that when I try to play it nothing happens. I have also tried to save the new sound item and reopen it up in GECK and attempt to play it. When the happens I get a warning message:

"Audio: Could not open file test.wav"

I have tried this process with ogg files as well which don't even seem to load up and also running the GECK as administrator (I'm using Vista)

If anyone knows of any tutorials I could try or has any advice it would be much appreciated :)

The english isn´t my native language ( :whistling: ), but I think you say that your audio files are dialogues for actors.

In this case you can´t to use the Miscellaneous/Sound section for this. You must use a QUEST. Here is a good tutorial.

Most important from my point of view of this tutorial is in headland My NPC's are mute!

If your audio file is not a dialogue then I think the problem is that the GECK can´t to open the audio file because not find the path. You file must be in folder into of the Data folder. Is this your problem?

Try this (it is obvious, but I can not think of anything else):

Copy a audio file of the Fallout-Sounds.BSA (with FOMM or another program) to your Data\Sound folder.

Create a new sound in GECK with this file. Click on PLAY (Sounds window). Do you hear something?

Save your mod. Open again...

And click again on PLAY.

If this not work I think the problem is with the installation (of the GECK, of course).

If you can to hear the audio file then your other file have a wrong codec or format. Try to render the file with other configuration.

(I create an audio file with Premiere and I did not have any problem)
