LordMaddog Posted April 29, 2009 Share Posted April 29, 2009 Hi all LordMaddog here I am making a simple Mod called Ground Zero We all know a nuke hit but there is no Crater big enough in the game to be were the nuke hit so I am going to make a one a Hella big one and I going to add three new weapon schematic with it But I have a few question first 1 where would the best place be to add said crater 2 is there a list of keybindings for the editor I cant seem to find a list of them any were why it seems the same as OB I never really learned all the keys like I just found out H brings up the land editor 3 I basically want to take one of the small craters that are randomly found on the map and copy then past it some were ells but 100x the size then fix it up and make it cooler is that possible ? 4 what should the radiation lvl be at the very center of the crater be and should there be any thing left of the nuke (remember its 200 years old) 5 Because I am work on such a big area I keep having the far clipping make my land go invisible is there a way to fix this thats all for now any comets welcome Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Yossarian22 Posted April 29, 2009 Share Posted April 29, 2009 You should make it in a new worldspace or you get conflicts with the Wasteland LODEverything, that deletes big Objects, lower or raise the Landscape, remove Trees or change Landscape Textures in a large scale is Not possible without LOD Bugs.Only walkaround is making a new LOD, but thats impossible. Of course you can, but if you change the Landscape there, the LOD will ignore your change. So the effect of a HUGH Crater wouldn't work, coz the LOD ignores, that you actually did a crater. LordMaddog Posted April 29, 2009 Author Share Posted April 29, 2009 Ya I found out what you mean :( I made one partly and tested it in game and the land did not change why the bounding box did :( well now I guess I have to make a fast trans port some were in the world I guess I could have you come across a body that has notes on were the crater is and have it ask if you want to go there tho that ruins the immersion ... Rockatanskiy Posted April 30, 2009 Share Posted April 30, 2009 Well since you're going to put it in its own worldspace, why not expand the idea a bit? After all, traveling to a whole new area just to see a (relatively) small crater with nothing else would be kinda pointless... So why not add some fluff? Perhaps you could add the remains of some shacks farthest from the impact that weren't totally vaporized by the nuke. Maybe you could have some letters or computer terminals that show some backstory or what happened just as the bomb fell. And I'd definately enjoy the whole area swarming with feral ghouls and trogs! The lack of any large crater is probably more realistic than you might think. Since a medium yield nuclear missile will create a fireball roughly 30 kilometers in diameter, they are designed to detonate well up in the air to maximize damage to the human population. So unless they are created specifically as bunker busters, nukes would probably not leave a large crater. See pictures of Hiroshima and Nagasaki as an example. The unrealistic part is that so many buildings in Washington D.C. are still standing, because it is certainly one of many ground zeroes. (if you have the dlc that is) I was going to have a small shack and even notes voiced the story is like this This one smart guy got backing from local thugs to make a powerfull food deradiation device to take all the radiation out of food he fails a few times and the thugs are well lets say not happy so he is really in a hurry and messes up his math but he Amazingly succeeds well sort of he turns the food to goo and at the same time compresses the radiation into a beam that cuts straight threw 2 of the men watching his experiment He was about to be killed on the spot but the thugs leader steps in saying that was the most amazing thing he had ever seen and forces the man to use his new found product to make Beam weapons powered off the radiation from food or meat the man makes them but a pawn testing them he realizes the power of thees new weapons and destroys them on the spot the thugs are socked by the power of the weapons and even more so as he causes them to over load and blow up killing the boss and a few other men that the dont even see the doc run with his work any way the doc makes a run for it but the thugs are closing in so he is forced to run into the crater were the thugs stop following him now that he has time he pulls out all his life work and is about to destroy it when he finds he cant do it but at the same time he knows he cant let them be were any one can find them. he also knows he is going to die either by the thugs or the radiation so he takes the data to the center of the crater and drops them there in a safe box then laves the crater by the other side because he went straight threw the crater instead of around he is able to out run the thugs and find a shack were he puts his journal in a locked safe and programs a robot to not open it for any one unless he proves himself to be a good and honest man. then he dies this is were you find the shack and persuade said robot to open the safe(good karma) or just shoot it and hack the lvl 100 lock(bad karma) then you go and fetch said data form the box and make your self thees powerfull beam radiation ray weapons for your self Ray Canon 1 rocket launcher 50 scrap 2 sensors 60-120 damage a sec10 feet area damage fire type continuous max range 1800 weapon type big weapon Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
