CM Partner Problems with Custom Race

Alright here is my problem. I can create a partner using vanilla races just fine. Tried my hand at making a new one with a custom race. In the editor the face shows up as all black. Adjusted hair just fine, but the eyes wouldn't show up as anything but black orbs. Tried to place her anyways just to see what would happen. Got to the spot where she would be and the game crashes. The custom race I want to use is DesuChans_Kawa-Khajiits. Now it's not like I haven't tried to do my homework on this issue. I've poured through about 30 pages on the CM partner comments and looked through the forums looking for a custom race tutorial and sadly I've not been able to come up with anything. I'm really just looking for someone to point me in the right direction. Thanks.
