Changed dagger into sword = invisible now

I downloaded the Assasin Armor and Rapiers by Petrovich mod to use the rapiers on a bladesinger build, but discovered that the rapiers are actually daggers in the mod. No problem, I thought. Surely there's a way to easily change them into longswords. The Winter Forge mod should be able to handle this. Well, it could change it into a longsword but it changed the model too. I was able to modify every aspect of the rapier that I wanted but could not turn it into a longsword without changing the model so that it no longer looks like a rapier.

Then I started trying to modify the mod files themselves but could not find what determined the weapon type. After 8 hours of fooling with it, I gave up and went to bed.

I woke today and figured out how to open the mod's UTI files. I then discovered rather quickly that the BaseItem string in the rapier UTI file determined it's weapon type. So, after those 8 hours of fooling around, I was finally able to turn the "dagger" into a longsword, simply by changing a 3 to a 2! Then I fired up the game, only to find that my new longsword version of the rapier is now invisible. I don't understand why it cannot find the correct mesh just because I changed it to a longsword. I cannot figure out how to fix this. I've even opened the mesh file and physical file and nothing looks like it will help. If I change it back to a dagger it works fine again. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I'm at least 12 hours in now and no hope of getting a longsword version of the rapier. Sigh.

TL;DR

Changed a rapier from the Assasin Armor and Rapiers mod that was classed as a dagger into a longsword by changing the BaseItem id in the UTI file from a 3 to a 2. Now the rapier is invisible. Is there any way to fix it?

EDIT: To clarify, the rapier is visible in my inventory and equippable and I can even use it, but the model is invisible. It still has the correct icon.
