i have a question about a problem in Oblivion

I walked out of a house in Anvil in Oblivion and once i was outside my character began very slowly sliding backwards. If I try to move him in any direction he goes ultra slow. It kind of looks like he is stuck on something or he is running in really slow motion. It's really agitating me because I loaded the game and he still does it. Even when I shut the game down he still does it when I go back in. How do I fix this?

Ok walk me through how to fix this. I am not a person who creates mods. I don't usually mess with files unless adding a mod to my game, in which I just follow the modder's instructions in the readme file. And even then I am not really sure what I am doing lol. So if you could elaborate on your instructions that would be cool lol. Because I do not understand what that ini tweak stuff means except that you are talking about an ini file lol.

In your "My Documents" file, at least on my computer, there should be a file for games. Find Oblivion's folder, it should have a save folder inside where your save games are held. There is a configuration document, a text document which holds the settings for the game when booted up. Just scroll down the list until you find the three things mentioned above and change the numbers. Any time someone mentions the ini file, this is the file they mean. Just make sure you're not changing the DEFAULT.ini which is in the actual Oblivion folder (with your mods, and .exe).

The file is the "oblivion.ini" file, located in the directory ...\documents\my games\oblivion folder. Open it with a text editor like notepad and change the line "busejoystick=1" to "bUsejoystick=0". Then save the file.

It also, usually, works to just unplug your joystick.

Thanks a lot people! I appreciate the help. Apparently that was exactly it. The controller was sending a slight input due to a slightly off center stick. Unplugged it, problem solved. Thanks!
