is there any other way to have more than one companion (except dogmeat)

or maybe there is a mod for it?

 

 

This is all based on the game on the xbox 360 with no mods.

 

I'm sure I'm not the first to discover this. But I've gotten 3 followers so far, can't make it to four.

The trick to begin with is to get a follower, Jehrico or some other, then get dogmeat, who imo, is a worthless follower, but that's neither here nor there.

Then either get him killed, which isn't that difficult, or kill him, which brings on bad karma, whichever way you want to go. Then this opens a slot.

Then get your next follower; Charon has been my favorite. Then you can go to the Robo factory near Tenpenny Tower, and talk to Tinker Joe, just wait until he arrives. Then make sure you have neutral karma at this point, then save. Buy his robot, whathisface. You may have to fire Charon to get posession, but do this, then immediately hire charon back.

Then you can hire whomever you want after firing the robot, or you may want to keep the robot. But at any rate, you have three open slots and you can hire anyone, karma perminting.

The trick is to never let anyone go unless you have the right karma to get them back, and sometimes that's not enough. Just follow these steps and you can get 3 followers.

Who wants three followers? I've been through the game 4 times, I"m just trying different stuff. Some stuff that 3 followers will do:

You have 3 pack mules to carry a lot of stuff, which equals more caps. They do alot of you fighting for you, which can be good or bad. Good that you don't have to worry so much about dealing with the natives, bad that you don't get as many points, good that you don't get too many points too soon and cap out at level 20 and can enjoy the game a little longer.

It's a fun game anyway you play it, lone wolf or leader of a troop. It opens up differnt levels of play either way. I currently have Charon, Jerhico, and Butch, all dressed in different armor, one in BHOS armor, the other in Outcast, and the other in Enclave. The drag is with the Enclave armor is making shure I'm not shooting at the wrong one.

Fawks if one of my favorite followers, but it's difficult to get him with 2 others, but I did it one time. You just have to try it a couple of differnt ways to make it work.

 

I hope someone gets some enjoyment out of this and if anyone knows of a way to get 4 followers, please let me know.

UPDATE: I just went through again and need to add that the way you get Mr. Gutsy is have the neutral karma, if you have, say Charon with you, fire him, then you buy Mr. Gutsy from Tinker Joe, immediately run back to Charon BEFORE you talk to Mr. Gutsy, Charon will follow you again and THEN talk to your new bought toy. If you talk to him, wait too long, or get too close to Mr. Gutsy too quickly, Charon will not come back to you.

 

I recommend going through the Vault 87 mission first before getting 2 followers, that's the mission where you meet Fawks are knocked out and taken to the Raven Rock. If you have a couple of followers before that, you'll lose one and not be able to get him or her back. Fawks won't follow you if you have bad karma, but after you get him following you, you can kill and steal all you want until you are good and evil and he won't leave you, he'll just complain about your behavior whilst helping you kill the innocent, the hypocrite.

4 followers easy:

 

Hire charon or any other standard companion. Then go to big town and get the quest to rescue Red and Shorty from the Germantown police HQ. Equip Red and Shorty with heavy blasters and powered armor and take them on a never-ending hellride through the wastelands.

 

They will follow you anywhere and act as mules as long as you never return to big town and complete the quest. Eventually they will be crippled and gimping around LOL, but still they will shoot and kick ass.

 

Note: you can't heal them so it's imperative to equip them with powered armor immediately as any damage they take wont be regenerated and they cant use stimpaks. They will die eventually but that's the only way I can think of to get 4 followers on a console as I'm pretty sure dogmeat will accompany you as well.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that next time(as I will probably play it severl more differnt ways yet). It may work out that if those two are following, killing them or getting them killed may open a slot for another to follow. That's the case with dogmeat and Mr. Gutsy. It would be a hoot get as many as possible, like getting Charon, Fawks, Jerhico, and Butch all going at the same time, maybe even with Star Cross and the Slaver gal as well. It's just a matter of opening slots.
