Mavrosh
Maybe someone else has these problems... I have the latest version of the gimp installed and use the dds plugin and the normalmap plugin as well. It worked fine for some time and all the sudden it will not save as .dds any more. I reinstalled everything manually but again, I have the same problem. I even deleted the entries of the gimp in my registry and still - same problems... Does anyone have any suggestions? I know there is converters out there but when I create a normalmap, save it as a .psd file and then get this converted with anotheer program, it becomes a volume map and does not work in game, so I really need this terrible dds plugin for gimp to work... xxXEvandarXxx
If you haven't already, try this converter. It has always worked for me. If you want to convert Normal maps, remember that you need to use either DXT3 or DXT5 compression when converting. If I remember correctly, if your image becomes a volume map, that's because the image that you're converting has several layers (like mipmaps for example), instead of just the 'main surface' layer it should have. Unavi
yeas that's right. The dds exporter for gimp can't export more that one layer. You should merge down or delete the other layers you don't need.

BossDweebe
Flatten image - in the Image tab before saving also works, if we're talking of the same issue.
