How to get Vortex to support Morrowind and openMorrowind.

First you have to understand Morrowind is the game and you must have a legal copy. Set up Vortex for Morrowind.

OpenMW is just a mod on top of Morrowind. Install it like any other mod. Granted, it replaces the engine, but still a mod.

To play with OpenMW enable it and Deploy.

To play base Morrowind, disable OpenMY and Deploy.

Spend enough time with it and you may come to like Vortex. Very capable manager.

Knew most of what you are saying, but you have organized in a clearer way for me. I had almost arrived at what you suggest, but I was over complicating it.

I've used Vortex for years with other games, the complication came when I decided I wanted to run both MW and openMW. I've tried MO2 and found it incomprehensive, so I've found Vortex works fine for me. Only problem with it now is I'm trying to locate MW and Vortex on an external drive and Vortex seems determined to force me to use the C: drive. They do seem to tell me how to do that, but the text is incomprehensible, and it keeps forcing the C: install. But that is another issue.

Thanks for your help, I may get this working after all.

Fun fact:

TTW can be installed as a Vortex mod on top of FNV.

Makes switching between the two really easy.

I have not found much I can not do with Vortex.

For Vortex installs not on C:, use the custom installer. You can install anywhere.

And don't ever install anything under the Vortex install directory. It will go POOF when Vortex updates.
