Video Card Advice

Recommended Posts

I am not one sided, i go for witch is cheaper to,

Its about price:performance, not just price.

remember buying a whole motherboard and video card can get expinsive to, in the past i tried many differrent cards, ati, voodoo you name it.

Any motherboard with a PCI-E x16 slot can support any and all modern video cards, so this point is invalid.

A fanboy tries to make someone change manufactures when the person want's to keep it cheap. Like buying a whole motherboard for that card.

Untrue again. This is not just about whats cheap, its about how cheap vs how much performance. You're talking in circles and out of your ass.

i build systems so i know what im talking about.

I dread to think of what you may have doomed others with.

I build systems for other people as well so I know what I'm talking about too, so what right do you have to say anything about Thor. Do you even know any thing about computers other than basic names of parts. answer that and then we can talk about computers and whose a fanboy.

Agreed, this has drifted far enough off topic. If you have nothing to add to the discussion concerning the OP's original question.

Please just pass this by.

Yeah, I think I got enough help. But AlmostWhatIWant; You had no reason to come on this thread just to tell me how stupid I am on choosing Nvidia over ATI. All I wanted was a simple answer and you turned the whole thing into a massive flame war. I applaud you for that. Besides, your pretty stupid for thinking my CPU was that crappy, after I already stated it was just the case I was referring to. I have plenty of ram (4GB) and the most common CPU imo.. (Intel Core2 Duo)

Anyways, I've made my decision. I'm just going to go with a total upgrade. I'm planning on spending around $800, just to get a new power supply, tower, and a video card. I want to make sure this lasts me for atleast 5 years.^^

I understand NewEgg is a deal breaker, but I have no idea how to build a computer, which is why I choose Best Buy, and their "Geek Squad" or whatever it was called.

Here are the things I am wanting to buy(Unless someone recomends not to):

- a GTX280

- 700-750 w powersupply

- Large Case Tower (The $150 poo^^)

Money is not much a problem unless it's above $800 bucks. I want something to last me awhile for not only todays games, but future games aswell. But I figured how far could they go passed GTA IV's graphics in a year or two?

ALMOST FORGOT!!

What's the deal with Dual Cards?

Also Wow i was thinking of getting one of those 280 its a beast of a card, you only really need one of those, good choice.

maybe in my next upgrade, or a 295  they are at default sli, single card.

if spend and extra 100 you could get an alienware, check into the aurora.

I'd rather not. I've heard alot of stuff about Alienware (Bad Support, etc.). I'd rather go with building my own computer. (Or getting someone else to do it^^) I know some people who can build it for free, all I need is the parts. I also hear the GT300 is coming out. $500 anyone? :P
