Ranokoa
What is better for begginers, but intricate enough to make complex designs, with a good supply of basic to advanced tutorials? 3d max, or blender? I want something that i can pick up quickly and understand the tutorials while retaining the understanding of what the heck i just did in the tutorial. Preferably a good tutorial that starts by creating something relavent that can actually be used in oblivion, so i understand the context.
SpacemanSpIiff
In the right hands, either can make great work. As for what I'd choose, I would go for 3ds max if you can afford it (i dont condone piracy.)...but if you cant get it, then Blender is free. I myself use a student copy of Autodesk maya 2008/AutoDesk maya 2009, Because Im a student of fullsail, i got them for $400...on restriction is that i dont sell my work. Ranokoa
Well you may not condone piracy, and i certainly do not either, especially here in tesnexus! I should spank myself with a custom meshed pattle with little bumps on them, i should request this mesh from alienslof because SHE can make a good sexy mesh. I do not mean to exagerate someones capabilities, but when she wants to, she can make something no one ever thought oblivion could possibly have, and turn it awesomely kinky. But i digress. oops did it again. Point being i can get a hold of 3d max, and heck, even that program you mentioned, although ill stick with 3d max for the abundance of tutorials. But your answer, as helpful as it was, does not answer all the things i need to know. And by that i mean i need more than one persons opinion, so i can go with the majority on what is easier to learn, and has a good amount of understandible tutorials that all pertain to oblivion, and specifically modeling FOR oblivion... not some dang cat mesh that i cant use like at blender.org or .com or whatever. You know i told me what the site was and told myself to read the tutorials about a year ago, but like every other aspect in life i just couldnt listen to me and had to quit. Thats all i ever do, and all that i ever hear about myself, "it was too hard, i didnt understand it, my private area itches" GOD im so annoying, its like listening to me while im driving asking "are i there yet? when will i get there, im hungry im tired my feet hurt, will i feed me, can i pull over so i can get fresh air, have me turn the radio on i want to listen to rusty humphry" JESUS (hey zues, not, gee zus) i wish i would shut my mouth. Crud im doing it AGAIN! Anyways, thanks for the opinions, i just need to hear more of them to make an informed decision, unlike some selves around here, i like to hear what others have to say, instead of just rushing in like me. ~Ranokoa This program has been brought to you by "The Digressive Skitzo", and brought to you in part by pepsi, "Pepsi, for those who drink good!" Unavi
i would acctualy sugest Blender first. I use just Blender, though i have a book about max but i can't buy the program.I think Blender is much more easy for a begginger that max - if we talk about basic meshes, but if you plan to be a pro with it you will encauter big problems. Some features are fell very natural if you know what i mean, but some (mostly plugins) are in constantly argue with the user. Man it took me 4 months to get the weight paint copy script working. I haven't used max for long. (the more i dug in to modeling the more respect i started to fell to the other programmer and modelers so i stoped using my downloaded copy - this threat works like a confessional ;D) Max has a much more serious look and feeling when using it. Blender - it looks like it's for kind and it has several minuses but i love it. It's awesome that it is for free, thogut it wasn't from the start. Unavi
you will find a big number of Blender tutorials that are realated to Oblivion, so this is another plus for blender.
