orctor
Ok my question is should i play as a big orc with blunt weapons that's just offensive or should i play as an imperial sword fighter that's more tactical? Btw do you guys know if FCOM got any cool blunt weapons?
David Brasher
Be the Imperial sword fighter who is more thoughtful and tactical. I played a new mod the other day called "Ayleid Riddle Dungeon." It was really hard and I had to think carefully before I acted. I think your violent orc character would have just died.
Adamalmighty
I take it that you prefer a character thats more of a warrior or barbarian, as opposed to a mage. yes/no? I like a ballanced allrounder, like a paladin, cleric or 'battlemage'. In Oblivion your weapons, strength and endurance are obviously your first line of defence, but I find being able to make and cast powerfull area effect and resistance spells invaluable! You could always use 'player.setav [magicka] [-1(for max)]' and then never worry about running short of energy midbattle again. But this isn't everyones cup of tea, as you end up with a character thats more omnipotent than mortal, and the game becomes less of a challenging rpg and more of a treasure hunt. Don't get me wrong, I've had loads of fun tearing up Cyrodiil with nuclear fireballs and 1million amp staticdischarges(I only wish I had a 'vaporise/disintegrate' animation and effect mod...), but it gets boring after a while, I think its the fact that, because you can do anything you want, and nothing can stop you, or even get within 100 metres of you and have a go just for fun or whatever. So you end up not being able to relate with your character, which I feel ruins the immersiveness of the game, I mean thats the whole point to rpgs aint it!?! I'm using a Mystic Elf (female) at the mo', their good allround. Mines pretty handy with a claymore and heavyarmour, and shes got enough magicka and arcane skill to survive and put the odd imp into orbit! I like Argonians too, their as hard as gingerbiscuits, you can dunk them for as long as you want, and they never go manky. But all this maynot be answering your question precisely enough. So my solution to your dilemma; I'd just use the imperial, simply cos I dont like the Orc models. I was raised on Warhammer 40k style Orcs, and I find those in Oblivion to be bland in comparison.Sure their up for a bit of heavy lifting, but they dont look the part. Looking scary is 99.9% of being dangerous, the other .1% is having the ability to tell your backside from your front. Orcs are DUMB to say the least, and they certainly dont put the willies up me! That said you could just pick either and if you dont like them, change them with 'showracemenu'.
Yamcakes
I play tons and tons of characters. If you're having a hard time deciding what you want to be, you could always have your alternate ideas as partners, and get to experience it all!As for your choice, I love the good ol' fashioned Orc with a blunt weapon.I also highly recommend you retex them to look more like Tolkien orcs, and less like green play-doh. A side note: I play a light blue orc with white hair, she uses claymores/ice magic, and it's always a fun experience to try something new and out of the ordinary. That's what roleplaying is all about!
SiniVII
If you wonder what you want to be, cut it down to the choices you want the most. Then find a dice, and think of a number between 4-6. If it hits from 4-6, you go blunt orc. if it hits 1-3, you go Imperial Swordsman. Me however, like to play the sneaky little furry friends. NO Not the Khajiit... I am talking about! "The White Tabaxi Cat!" : D As for my character she is of the sneaky fast powerful hand to hand type. Hand to hand is really fun, since you can learn a counterattack with it. Sneaking is fun too! A powerful handslap over their asses takes 1/3rd of their HP and the rest is eazy! Of course if you want to be a sneaky person you do well having Illusion as a main spell, as you will need it to get Paralyze. Saves you the trouble of dodging and playing tactical if you just want to be fast, strike faster and pwn : D
Master Marksman
I don't mind playing as a front-line melee person, but because my characters a wood elf, close combat (especially at lvl 55) is a bit annoying. I suggest the Imperial, as you'll get the Voice of Emporer power, making persuasion a breeze. you'll also find pure melee in the late game is quite hard, as archers will pin you down fast, and mages will bypass your hefty armor. I suggest a hybrid, like melee with ranged or magic (stealth is somewhat pointless to a melee character).
reaper9111
i'm only gonna say one thing, if you really want some challenge while playing...play as a 100% magic user... that is a challenge your only weapons (a dagger)and ofcorse magic !... good luck ! orctor
Thx for all the answers!I've decided to play like an sneaky wood elf who uses blades. I've always been into the sneaking and tactical playing that's why i have played as a marksman half of my oblivion time.So now when i got Deadly reflexes it can be really fun to sneak around and cut the throat of ppls. Thx again your answers really helped!
