Helmet-on-hip Mod

Hey! I'm a choosing beggar hoping for a white knight to put together a mod that would allow me to equip my helmet to 'hang' from my hip. I'm ignorant to the details of modding FNV (hence asking, duh, but I do mod other games, so I'm reasonable in my expectations) but I imagine something that detects your current headgear is not likely to be possible, or simple enough, so specifically I'm looking for a mod that would make this work for the ranger helmets, and *ideally* a patch that makes it work for the Courier Ranger Helmet from the Courier Ranger Armor mod.. because that's what my courier wears..! I don't frankly expect any traction on this but if someone with the know-how could throw something like this together I'd be very grateful. I'd make you a custom car in CP77 as payment.
