Kyuzo174
I'm new to this site, so sorry if this is the wrong place to post. I am curious if anyone can suggest a new graphics card that can run Oblivion on atleast medium settings with a resolution of atleast 1360 x 768, without major framerate issues. Well this is what it's at right now and doesn't work real well, I can tell it's the graphics card. My screen is a 19 inch and is supposed to run on 1440 x 900. (not Oblivion's resolution) AMD Sempron 3000+2.00 Ghz2.00 Gigabytes of RAMGeForce FX 5200 <--- I can tell this is the problem.250 WAT MAX outputI'm running on Windows XP. Can you suggest a good graphics card in the 50-70 dollar range that I could buy? If you know a graphics card that can run on those system specs without having to buy anything else I'd appreciate that. That and of course like I said up there, "What graphics card can Oblivion run on atleast mediums settings, with a resolution of atleast 1360 x 768 without framerate issues?" Oh yeah, and at first I was thinkning Nvidia's Geforce 6800 GS because it was 50 dollars; is that any good? With the specs I have now, how good would that work? The reason why I thought of that card is because it's the reccomended graphics card on Oblivion's Reccomended specs. Thanks.
bben46
You have an exceptionally weak power supply. It will have problems with just about any decent video card. I recommend at least 400 watts minimum, and 450 would be better. Here is the original Bethesda recommended system requirements: http://www.elderscrolls.com/games/oblivion_faq.htm These were the original required specs and some of the stuff would barely run it at low resolution. As you can see, the FX5200 may run it , but barely. You would do better to get a better card than the 6800GS. But your current power supply may not even support the 6800. Before you spend money on a new video card, be sure you mother board has the right kind of slot. The FX5200 came in AGP, and maybe PCIe connector types. If you have the older AGP connector, many newer cards will not fit. Some motherboards had both types of slot.
