Guest Make7
Hi there, Im just starting to learn how to use the TESCS and I have run into a little problem I can't figure out. Now I dunno if it is possible or not but I have seen mods that use edited models that are still from the original game. So that's my question basically, is there a way to use say the in-game model from bloodmoon of the Aev(something) mace in a different way, like as a secondary item/shield? Or am I just gonna have to recreate it in some 3d modeling prog and hope it looks cool ) ?
FlyingFox
Ok. Say you want to make Aevar's Mace a shield. First, armor (including shields) are harder to make-- more complicated-- than weapons. So, first, insert the Bloodmoon disk-- this is where you will find the Mace's mesh (if a window pops up asking if you want to install Bloodmoon now, click "no", 'cause you already have it installed! :P ) Now, open the editor, and open the Data Files menu from File\Data Files. Double click both Morrowind.esm and Bloodmoon.esm. Do not set an active file. Click OK. (if a message pops up asking if you want to set an active file, press "No") Now, select "Body parts" tab from the object menu after both files are loaded. Right click the menu and select new. In the new window, where it says "Art File" click that button. From the drop-down menu at the top of the "open file" window, select the drive where the Bloodmoon disk is. open it, find the Mace's mesh in the folder "Meshes," and click Ok. (I'm not sure what the Mace's mesh file is called, but if you want to know, go to the "Weapons" tab, find Mace of Aevar Stone Singer, double click it. In that window there should be two buttons, one on top of the other. The top one should be the mesh for the Mace-- should be something like w\BM_W_Mace_Aevar or something). Now, a name should appear in the "ID" box in the new body part window. Keep and remember this ID. In "Part" drop down menu, select "Wrist." In Part Type, select "Armor." Don't worry about the other sections of the menu. Click OK. Now, go into the "Armor" tab on the objects menu. right click and select new. Enter in an ID. Enter in a Name. From the Type drop down menu, select shield. Don't worry about script. Put in the armor weight, Armor rating (AR), health, and value. In the button, select the same mesh as you did before for the body part. Press the inventory image button, select "Morrowind TGA icons (*.TGA)" from the file type drop down menu, select the Bloodmoon disk, but this time look in the folder "Icons." Find the Mace of Aevar Stone Singer icon file: it should be something like w\BM_tx_Mace_Aevar. Put in the number of enchanment points the shield will be able to hold in the box "Enchantment." Or put in the desired enchantment from the Enchanting drop down menu, preferably the one that the original Mace has.... but you may not want to worry about this (since you can't attack with a shield, the "Cast on Strike" effects of the Mace will have no effect.). Now, in the Biped Object section, select Shield. In the Male Armor section, select the ID of the body part you made previously. Don't worry about Female Armor. Click OK. Now, put the shield/mace in the world. You won't be able to fight with the mace in your left hand, but you will have a pretty kick-a$$ shield. Hehe. Have fun. :)
