evanbgood
I just started trying out FOOK recently and have a question. Not that the new weapons aren't impressive and all, but I tend to like the vanilla set up for weapons/ammo with the game, and I prefer the original sounds and textures as well. The main thing I like about FOOK is the outfit system, since I like having a reason to wear something other than PA or a stealth suit. So, is there any way I can just use those tweaks specifically? Is there any chance FOOK might be released in parts? It seems kind of silly that the mod, itself, has many .esps I can pick and choose from, yet the core mod is "all or nothing".Thanks! evanbgood
Why don't you ask the FOOK designers in their thread where they would see it, rather than here? Because I thought something might already exist that I didn't know about, for one. Also, their community forum seems to be down. And finally, I figured the kindness of strangers might be a bit more helpful than expecting some probably busy modders to cater to my needs. Silly me. But your question was this: Is there any chance FOOK might be released in parts? Seriously, no offense intended, but who is going to know the answer to that except for the FOOK team members? Silly me. board isn't and never was down, url is: http://forum.fookunity.com/index.php Anyways, in theory you could of course seperate the armor stuff but it would be a lot of work. We can't just seperate certain things like weapons / armor if we want to integrate them in leveled lists. This would mean we'd have to create totaly seperate versions of the mod and that'd be an insane amount of work.Only alternative is a stipped down version which doesn't add items to NPC's at all but i'm not rly interested to support such a version.Having said this i don't mind if someone creates such a version but it won't be done by me/us. Only thing that we might do for v2.0 is to have a "FOOK light" version. This would only contain the "core content" of FOOK ie all new items added to the game/npc's with no other gameplay changes at all.

Someone who's been paying more attention to the news than I have, perhaps? It is a "general modification talk" forum, after all. I never understood why people got their feathers ruffled over a harmless question, but no offence taken. That said, the next post did make me giggle a bit, given who it's from. :) board isn't and never was down, url is: http://forum.fookunity.com/index.php Anyways, in theory you could of course seperate the armor stuff but it would be a lot of work. Thanks for the board link, I was going to the wrong one (somewhere I heard www.whatthefook.com, which doesn't load).I tinkered around with the GECK today and, yeah, I can definitely see why it would be difficult to reverse engineer that. Idealy, I think it would be nice to have a FOOK - Armor.esp, FOOK - Weapons.esp, etc., but I see how it's a wee bit late for that :) If I get better at this whole GECK thing and I end up trying to make that (I don't mind the work, I just need to figure out how to do it), I'd be happy to post it here, with permission, of course. Sounds like I might be getting in over my head, though. Perhaps I'll ask at the other forum to see if anyone else wants to have something similar.I really like the idea of a "light" version, though! FOOK is a great collection of a lot of different things, but as nice as an "overhaul" is, being able to pick and choose what you want to overhaul is probably my favorite part of FO3 modding in general. All that said, a big thumbs up to everyone who worked on it. I'm still consistantly blown away by the mod community for this game and I'm having a lot more fun thanks to people like you!

Mod compilations, in general, don't get installed by as many users as they could be, due to the majority of people liking the whole package as such, but having an issue with a couple of features they are unable to turn off due to the mod design. It's obvious that the leveled lists problem is a pretty big one, unfortunately, but the "FOOK light" idea is awesome, and it would be great if there were a few packs (such as FOOK - Classic Fallout Weapons.esp, FOOK - Tactical Weapons.esp, FOOK - Texture Revamps.esp and similar) of goodies the end users could easily pick and choose from. LinkesAuge
I don't see "a lot of content that still doesn't quite fit into the core game at this point, visually or otherwise". Also customisation is good and nice but every option we give doubles the work while only catering to very few ppl. It is also a question about using your resources (time) in the best possible manner. If you had posted to the FOOK thread to begin with you'd have gotten your answer more quickly :) Hate to keep fueling the fire on this one, but... less than 24 hours isn't quick? Other than this nonsense, I got my answer, and then some. Oh, and I agree with that last statement by Linkes. As much as I wish my idea could come true, you have to pick your battles. The only thing that seems odd about it is that it's a compilation of many other mods and I can find some of the individual gun mods and such from random locations, but I can't find any of the creators of the custom clothes or the stat modifications (although I get the impression the stats are purely FOOK). So, again, breaking it up would be awesome and I think there probably are a handful of people who would appriciate it, but I totally understand the decision not to.
