Xokks
So for a week I'm going to be in the hospital due to a surgery I have to get. Does anyone have some suggestions of what I could do, Fallout 3 modding related hopefully on an older computer that has no sound. For example I was thinking I could really plan out a quest and get all the dialog and such set and typed up in the mean time before I can get my hands on GECK again. I'm also pretty new to GECK and various aspects of Fallout 3 modding. It would be nice if there was some sort of book I could read that would teach me a whole ton of things related to modding so I'd come back with a new wealth of information. I know there's; http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php/Main_Page However I'm not sure how helpful that is if you don't know what specifically you're looking for. It would be nice if it was organized in a start to end sort of fashion is that makes sense. So other than doing various lurking of the forums, planning myself out a quest. Anyone have some ways I work towards learning more about GECK and other related things like, maybe I will need to do some moddling or texturing etc.

Get better soon! I think the url you posted there is probably a good start with the tutorial on the first page "Start your vault today". However, I would think the GECK would be hard to run on some lower end systems, so you may run into a general problem there. If it does run, though, hanging around The Nexus and looking at other people's mods is a good way to kill time, I've found. Once you kind of know some basics, you can download simple mods and use the GECK to see what they did and how they did it (or try, at least, if you're me). You can always try to ask questions here, with the usual forum ratio of usefulness to snide comments. If nothing else, if you're set on the idea of spending your bed time with Fallout 3 stuff (I'd be off playing kongregate games or something :P), you can work on concepts for mods. I'm doing something like this, writing up the "English" stuff that I would hope to one day include in my mod. All that requires is a word processor and an imagination. Good luck! GreyViper
May I suggest reading books? To get library come to you. Get a laptop net connection. Download MIRC connect to Undernet EU server. Type /join #bookz and use commands @seek; @find for searching key words and enjoy the information overdose.
ZeonicGlory
Personally, I'd recommend downloading some visual novels to play. Can easily run on an older computer, no sound required.
