Sorry, the title isn't that clear, but i couldn't find a better way to put it shortly.

Basically, I want to upgrade my graphics card, however I have already installed, configured, modded, played Skyrim.*

My question simply is: what do I need to do to make sure that Skyrim will properly recognise that I've changed my card, especially considering I launch via SKSE via Mod Organiser. Do I need to run the Skyrim launcher again? Or will Skyrim just realise automatically?

After changing the card and making sure it works - Nvidia has a program that you can run to optimize performance for particular game - I believe AMD has one also. Run that before trying to play the game - Then, go into your steam installation and rename the ini files. You want them to not be there when the game starts. Be sure to rename BOTH the ini files in \Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim AND the ones in \users\your_user_name\documents\games\Skyrim (These are Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini)

This will force the game to generate new ini files based on your new video card. Instead of starting like you usually do, go into steam and start the game from the Steam launcher - allow it to go through the 'Detecting Video', (if it doesn't do this you didn't rename all of the ini files) then start the game. Make a save and exit. Now you can start the game in the usual way from your actual save. And if you use it with SKSE - and it should be using the new settings. After testing you can make any ingame video settings and then go in and make any manual ini edits you use.
