iavor55
I have a wierd problem with the thieves guild questline. When i recieve the first quest from the gray fox himself I go to the needed place and BOOM!My PC resses! .This happened before but I though it was because of mah vid card or somehting, but now I got a completly new 512mb vid card!I have explored the location before and had a map marker on it.I tried going on foot and fast traveling it seems that just as I get in range of the "discover map marker" system or whatever my Pc reses! But that never happened before I got the quest...Now im thinking of just using my Thieves Succes custom spell to sneak into the library of the IC and get the elder scrolls, then simply go to hte gray fosx and give them to him thus completing the last thieve mission and getting the ULTIMATE REWARD! :whistling:  If anyone knows how to fix this problem, please tell me. :thanks: PS.The "Thieves Succes" is a custom spell wich is basicly this: Detect Life on max,Chameleon Max and Night eye max....You need 100 illusion skill....only xD

darkjaffar
The way I see it, if you mean the PC literally is resetting, 2 problems could be occurring:1. Your graphics card is overheating. It is unlikely as it seems to occur at the same point each time, but it is possible. If you recently installed it, make sure you attached it correctly and the card's fan is working correctly. If there are PCI or other expansion ports nearby the card that are being used, try moving those to areas away from your card. This helps ensure that the card can move air freely. I've had people fry their cards because of problems like this. If there is a lot of dust, use compressed air and air it out (when the PC is off). 2. The other possibility, and the more likely, is that there is a glitch in the card's driver. Sometimes older drivers come with new cards. The computer is possibility even trying to give you a BSoD but I have found that many windows installations have them disabled by default, and so you never get the blue screen, rather, it seemingly just resets on you at random. Check to make sure your card's drivers are up-to-date and are installed correctly. If it is neither of those, you may want to post a mod list. I don't think a mod would cause something as bad as an automatic reset, but who knows.
BossDweebe
Do the drivers as above, but - Mods can cause a crash to desktop via a black screen .Have you installed any mods recently ? Even if not recent. If you havenot visited the cell in which this crash is occurring it may come from an earlier mod that makes changes to that cell.So it could be a mod that has been installed since you last made a visit to the area. iavor55
If you havent noticed-I have visited the location before!I did it accidently while I was exploring,I managed to go over there and talk and stuff WITH MEDIUM SETTINGS.Now I went there with LOW settings and my Pc restarted like before!I have experienced this problem only with games that are a bit over my PC or when I have accidently icnreased the settings too high.I have all of the drivers since I when I had to install a new motherboard I went to the tech and he sayed he had installed ALL of the needed drivers.I also ran a scan to see if there is any problem with the drivers and it sayed that all needed drivers are installed....Also I managed to force the thieves guild quest and simply deliver the elder scrolls to him but now when I go to the castle at the point he is supouse to tak to me and give me the reward,he simply walks away and the countes walks over to he trone and sits oposite o the normal way(aka acing the trone while sitting in the air) o_O.... BossDweebe
Yes I did notice. It was a typo. Should have said even if you have visiteda place previously and have installed a mod or done other changes ( ini )then you may have a problem crash like yours when you return if the mod has been installed incorrectly,or if there is a problem in the mod. Also my last sentence repeats what I said above. If you still have a save that comes before the quest then you may want to roll back to that.It is possible that something got corrupted in the save. (which will roll into the subsequent saves)Forcing the quest could also break it. That may be the reason for the new problem. While you did mention the new graphics card I did not see anything about a new MB.If that was done at the same time as the graphic card then the driver would not be an issue, unless the tech installed the drivers from the CD that came with the card. Then they will be out of date. If he downloaded them then - no problems. Also - if the scan you ran was a Windows scan I wouldn't put too much stock in it. It will onlysay that you have appropriate drivers for running the card, not the most up to date. Having said that, I don't think your problem is driver related, but it is best to have very recent drivers.I expect the problem is mod or save game related. dezdimona
if its a corrupt save game theres no way to fix the save. You can limit and sometimes eliminate corrupt by disabeling save on fast travel and save on rest leaveing only the save when you sleep
