Downgrading

When I got Broken Steel I realized I needed to update my game to play it.

 

Stupid.

 

I ended up updating to 1.5, and now my game crashes constantly. Is there a way to downgrade to another version so I can use fake patch without a complete uninstall (I own the game on steam and it would take quite a while to get the game back).

First off, why'd you buy it on Steam? That's a huge problem off the bat. Anyways, to downgrade, just google up the earlier patch, and tons of mirror sites should still have it.

You can try a system restore to before you installed the patch, it should roll back the patch.

 

Make sure you create a restore point first so you can undo it if it does not solve your problem.

I really have no idea on how to system restore.

 

There's also nothing wrong with purchasing on steam, the only problem is it takes a while to install.

System restore does not make changes to any normal files on your computer, just the system ones, dll's and registry files and such. So no need to try that.

However a patch is a system file and would be installed in the system directory...

 

I think a system restore would be the best option to return to the old patch to do this is easy..

Control Panel\Backup and Restore Center

and it should have in tasks system restore if not restart your computer and as it loads up hit F11 and use systeam restore that way.

Well, if there is no way to fix it could some of the dear modding community make a patch for this dreadful patch? I really want to play Broken Steel with my mods (and without installing more than one other thing).
