Flarebear
I have a mod that added some armor to the game but it isn't allowing me to improve the armor via smithing. I looked at it in zEdit and it has the properties of ArmorHeavy, ArmorMaterialSteelPlate, ArmorCuirass, and VendorItemArmor which matches up with similar armors added by other mods. Is there anything else that might effect the ability for an armor to be improved?
anjenthedog
I think there's a value for setting a max threshold in the esm/esp (whatever we open using SSEEdit), and even the ability to smith (or enchant) it in the first place. Not exactly sure which they are though. This link might explain what you need to do to add crafting to an item that doesn't already have it. Might also outline the "max value" thing too idk. It appears to require using the CK, rather than SSEDit alone. (I just found it, didn't read it beyond the first paragraph or so just to confirm I was on the right track) Making an item craftable for Skyrimwiki.nexusmods.com/index.php/Making_an_item_craftable_for_Skyrim For a workaround/"Cheat", you can use Proteus or Lazytools (only recognizes some items) or whichever other mods allows altering armor/clothing/weapon/etc values directly.
