sacri23 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Planning to start a game. Would like some Suggestions regarding what mods i should use. I started the game when it was released but i didn't get a chance to finish it halfway through. Things i'm mainly interested in but not limited to:- More in-depth skill tree / Character progression - More item choice / Gear progression- Graphic enhancements- Additional content like quest, bosses etc... Also i should note i don't like any mods that would make the game balance/difficulty too easy. No fun one shotting enemies, id like to keep the game challenging. Thanks in advance! :)
Lachdonin Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) Manditory, i feel, are;Skyrim Script ExtenderSkyrim ENB (most recent version) Depending on your hardware, i would recommend, graphically;aMidianBorn Book of SilenceSkyrim Hd - 2k textures Gameplay;FrostfallUFO (Ultimate Follower Overhaul)Dance of DeathT3nd0s Skyrim RedoneSky UI Items;Immersive ArmourImmersive Weapons Others will certainly recommend the Unofficial Patches. Personally, i can't, because they crash my game, but others speak highly of them so you may want to try them out. Edited November 15, 2013 by Lachdonin
DeadlyDoughnuts Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 (edited) If you have the hardware to handle it i would consider the Static Mesh Improvement Mod essential. Its also worth checking out Enhanced Distant Terrain and Skyfalls and Skymills. Also for me SkyRe is a must have mod. Finally If your into immersion i would recommend.-iHUD-Audio Overhaul-Wet and cold-Splash of rain-Immersive creatures-Dovahkiin relaxes tooAs for quest mods can't really give any proper recommendations as i havent had the chance to try out any yet but Helgen Reborn looks rather interesting. chanchan05 Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Current playthrough serves me as a mod testing thing so these are what I have found out for now: Mandatory Installs:SKSE - many mods requireSkyUI - PC friendly UI Hardware dependent:Skyrim ENB - hey if your hardware can only give you up to med-high settings, putting this is a performance hit GamePlay:Deadly DragonsFrostFallWet and Cold (with Ashes Plugin if you have Dragonborn)Real Needs and Diseases (less complicated than others but good, optional Fishbiter RND tweak)Run for your Lives - People/civilians now run away from dragonsWhen Vampires Attack - Same as above but for vampire attacks in cities/townsAchieve That! - More achievements and bonuses! Yeah!SkyTEST Realistic Animals/Predators - more wildlife, plus they are intelligentConvenient Horses - THIS IS AWESOME :)Fires Hurt - Because walking over campfires hurtMoonlight Tales - Because Werewolves are awesome. Economy:Cutthroat Merchants - Because it's too easy to get rich in SkyrimGolden Vendors - Increases merchant gold to 2k/5k/10k so you can sell more. You hoard a lot of stuff from dungeons because of CM, so this is neededIncreased Bounty and Guild Rewards (with the Reduced Fedex addon) - really? 100G to slay a dragon but 1500G to deliver a parcel? This fixes thisSecret of Steel - Dwemer, Ebony and Glass are supposed to be rare. Dragon armor from the Warmaiden? Really? This fixes it. Merchants only have Steel/OrcishRealistic Room Rental - Because it doesn't make sense for a Suite at the Winking Skeever to cost as much as a cot in Frostfruit Inn Cosmetic/VisualCloaks of Skyrim - so I have my mannequins with Hold guard armors and corresponding Hold cloaks and shields LOL)Winter is Coming - more cloaks, looks like the ones from the GoT showRealistic Lighting Overhaul So far these are what I have running. Planning on testing out Dragon Combat Overhaul. Civil War Overhaul looks good, but it's recommended for use only on a new playthrough so I can't use it yet. You may want to. Other mods that were recommended but not yet tried by me:Audio Overhaul OR Sounds of SkyrimClimates of TamrielScenic CarriagesAmazing Follower TweaksSneak ToolsFacemasks of Skyrim (hey this makes you unidentifiable if wearing a mask. they only know you as the masked menace. LOL. Separate bounty) Anyway, I usually start out checking SkyrimGEMS for Mods before I look for possible alternatives:http://www.skyrimgems.com/
DanielCoffey Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Additional Content : Falskaar and Wyrmtooth. Also the anti-thalmor quest line (can't remember the name). EDIT : The anti-THalmor mod is a series called "Fight Against The Thalmor"
Lotus97 Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 (edited) For more items I would recommend Dynamic Loot. There's an in-game menu that let's you customize how frequent the items are dropped by NPCs. You can get items with 2 or 3 enchantments which isn't possible in vanilla unless you max out your enchanting skill. If you want better loot in containers this mod is pretty good: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11018/?The only problem with the second mod is that the stuff you find in barrels is often too good, but it's really nice for boss chests to have better loot. I also use a tougher economy mod to balance things out. I get much less for selling and items cost much more. With vanilla Skyrim you end up with way too much money even without the mods I mentioned. If you want an overhaul to the vanilla perk system SPERG is a great mod. SPERG might make your character more powerful, but there are mods you can balance the difficulty. What I really like about SPERG is that with many of the perks you really feel like it's making a difference for your character. And you only get half as many perks per level with SPERG to balance things out somewhat. One of the nice things about SPERG is that your spells get stronger as your skill level goes up. With vanilla the output is fixed whether you're at level 1 or level 50. If you do want to increase the difficulty at some point (many people say Skyrim is too easy on the default setting) there are a lot of mods that work better than the in game difficulty slider. One option is this mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23552/?It reduces your damage, but doesn't increase the enemies' damage because that could make it too hard for some. There's also ASIS, Higher Enemy Levels, and Immersive Difficulty Levels. Often times the game is challenging at the beginning, but gets too easy at higher levels so you can install these mods later on if things get too easy. Edited November 16, 2013 by Lotus97
