How do I make my sniper rifles accurate?

I have my small guns at 100, meaning I get no scope sway, but no matter what I allways miss when I'm at mid range or further. The head is perfectly lined up but it misses. Every time. Unless I aim for their hip and somehow it registers as a headshot I think.

I downloaded this - http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=394, but it didn't seem to help much. Maybe it's not supposed to, I just wanted to try something before I asked.

The bullet travels very slow too.

And I'm not sure what it is, I just know it sucks right now. I really was looking forward to doing a sniper build but this is making it impossible. Seems everything goes right to the chest too when I do actually hit them. But from range I can only hit their head if I aim for their waist.

By default scopes on sniper rifles are bugged in Fo3

I had the same problem, with some research I discoverd that if you perfectly fixed on their head, and not auto aiming at them, the bullet goes over their head. So aiming lower, about mid chest should allow you to rip face with greater efficency lol.

Im using a mod that corrected this problem and Im trying to find a link to it on the Fo3 nexus. Just havent found it yet.

Im still looking though.

i was reading about the same problem on the vault wiki. the shot goes up and to the right of where you are aiming. its just barely though, that is why you only notice it at a distance. the way your shot goes up and right is also the same thing that your scope does when it recoils. the gun might actually be recoiling before firing. yet another glitch that could have easily been found with a bit of playtesting.

you can fix this by aiming down and left of your target's head. you should only shoot at stationary targets when firing from long range, for two reasons. the first reason is that the sniper's ammo travels very slowly compared to a conventional weapon (or other weapons in F03 for that matter), so if your target is moving, you will need the perfect lead on them to hit, and thats assuming the target doesnt change direction between the time you fire and the time the boolat gets to the target. youre also better off shooting at the chest in those instances, since its a much bigger target. reason number two is because of this weird recoil glitch, it becomes even harder to accurately judge your lead when you have to compensate for this stupid glitch.

so if youre sticking to stationary targets at long range, just remember down and left of where you want to shoot.
