Windows 8, Shivering Isles+mods: starts once but not twice

Hello,

This is on a Windows 8.1 machine, 64-bit version.

I have installed Oblivion, Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine and the DLC from a GOTY edition, in C:\Games\Oblivion. I then added about 15 mods for cosmetics, as well as DarnifiedUI, through Oblivion Mods Manager.

I can then start the game and play as long as I want without trouble. But when I quit it, and then try so start it again, it fails: I just get 2 seconds of the initial video showing, then I get back to the Desktop with no error message. The only way to start the game again is to open OBMM, deacivate all mods, except SI and the DLC, erase the INI files in C:\Games\Oblivion, start the game, then quit, reenable all the mods and start the game again *with OBMM still open*. If I trying after closing OBMM, it fails in the same way.

Can anybody help me solve this? Having to deactivate then reactivate before playing is getting tedious...

Thanks!

Just an wild guess but i see u haven't said u went into ur data files.

Try to start the oblivion launcher (the pop up where u can change ur resolution and install the game and some others) in here u got an line in where u can activate the data files. (by checking the empty boxes)

In ur case this will probably fix the problem, sometimes when u activate an mod in the Mod manager it activates the data file but when u close the Mod manager it deactivates the mod.

The reason ur Oblivion Crashes is because u added an mod which uses one of ur main files as an master file (can't run without an particular other file, in this case probably ur shivering isles.esp)
