scorpioED
Recently I patched the game to V1.5 and installed Broken Steel but I found that a lot of Mods caused savegame crashed. I can only get those Mods running together with Broken Steel installed without having savegame crash by re-installing the game back to V1.1. However, now Broken Steel is not running properly - there are red boxes in the wilderness - eg. 2 red boxes appear in a ruined house in Springvile. When I patched the game to V1.5, I noticed that a new fallout3.esm was installed. Now, I am wondering whether this new fallout3.esm is the cause of savegame crashes with a lot of community Mods - as these community Mods maybe compiled with V1.1 fallout3.esm and incompitable with V1.5 fallout3.esm. Now, I either give up the good community Mods in order to play Broken Steel or give up Broken Steel in order to keep continue playing these good community Mods. For some examples1. With the Mod Diner and Shack Home and V1.5, this Mod will causes a savegame crash when fast travel from Diner and Shack Home to Magaton and save at Magaton or exit Magaton (autosave crash). Reinstalling back to V1.1, this Mod works fine.2. With the Mod M16A1Assaultrifle-3571 and V1.5, this Mod will causes a savegame crash when picking up a tin can in Srpingvile and then fast travel to Magaton (autosave crash). Reinstalling back to V1.1, this Mod works fine.
TGBlank
1.5 causes issues. Use 1.0.0.15 + fakepatch, or 1.4. + BS + BS fake patch + clear waters.
Riddleofsteel
Is Clear Waters a mod? Or something else? Thanks. I'm noticing some issues, possibly connected with using FWE/FOOK/MMM alongside Broken Steel. I was just in the middle of a fight by a burning car and the game just completely froze. TGBlank
Vanilla fallout is known for random freezes. That freeze may or may not be mod vs dlc - related. What i mean with clear waters is a mod that makes all the wasteland water clean (activate after finishing vanilla main quest). There's at least one called pure water, there are others of course, just peruse the nexus until you find one that suits your tastes.
Riddleofsteel
Hmm, I see. It's been a consistent issue in this otherwise trouble-free install. When I am running around the wasteland, the stuttering for buildings etc. to appear is really bad. The game also hiccups when there is a big explosion or a lot of gunplay. Finally this evening when I round a building corner to tear into some raiders, the game just freezes. It seems like it's about to just stutter, but it freezes. Is there anything I can do to reduce/stop stuttering and random freezes? I'm not really using the highest res stuff and I have some of the detail turned down. Running on just 2x aa and 8x AF. Thanks. TGBlank
Turn off the aa, and make sure nothing is running on the background. Antivirus, UAC, downloads, nothing. If you use a codec pack (like ffdshow or cccp), add fallout3.exe as an exception.
Riddleofsteel
I don't have a codec pack installed yet. Should I get one?
TGBlank
To play fallout? no, codec packs are to play movies. Adding fallout as exception prevents the codec pack from attempting to help fallout.
