BOS modded saved games problem, any advice please?

Hi, like most players I used mods. I can start BOS but I cannot get out of the A and B Rings in the Citadel. Transitioning into the lab or out into the courtyard CTDs. I tried every way I can think of to get past this; I tried reinstalling the game with no mods, I tried to use "movetoqt" but nothing has worked in either Live or offline mode. Bethesda say that it's the modded saved games that's the issue and there's no way around it. (Actually they said that they can get around it but that's proprietary information s o they cannot sahre it). If anyone has a solution I'd be grateful. I really don't want to redo the whole game. Thanks in advance.

Just curious, but do you have any mods located in the Data folder, but are simply deactivated? In my experience, deactivating mods is not enough, and that they have to be completely removed out of the data folder

I tried to totally replace the Data folder so that there were no mods at all. Is everyone playing BOS using a totally clean save with no mods?

I'm not, no. I have a few mods my self. I finally encountered one that was causing problems, but deleting it solved it for me. Most of the mods I have don't add content to the actual wasteland though. Such as weapons that can only be obtained through console code, or ones located inside buildings, or found only on certain mobs/npcs/shops

If your save happens to be around an area where one of these mods was active, or if there is a mod that a save might count on being there, it's possible it could have done something to the save data

I know there are some mods out there that if you get rid of, will do something bad to your save. Most however shouldn't be too unsafe to uninstall

I've found that reinstalling Fallout, patching to 1.0.015, and adding fake patch + UF3P solved most of my broken steel CTD problems. I'm still playing my old modded saves with all the same mods I had. Still have the occasional CTD, but so far I can live with it.

I tried that, didn't work for me, plus I don't know how to edit the ini file for the fake patch to get rid of all the missing mesh signs. I did read the thread on it but I really don't understand what to do.

I didn't edit the .ini either, too complicated for me. I made sure the BSA's (for the 3 DLC's) were in my data folder, and I'm using Quazzy's BSA manager mod to make them active. That's basically all the 1.5 patch does.....make the game recognize the broken steel BSA's, while at the same time breaking a bunch of other stuff and making many mods not work.

I'm no expert either, I figured all this out by reading JustinOther's fake patch thread as well as Quazzy's Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch thread.
