Script writer needed!!! Spear Mod

Ok, after browsing the web and the usual sites for spear mods, I've found some decent models and (while fairly new to it) I'm getting more comfortable with the CS and Nifscope.

 

My idea is, I love the concept of a shield and spear. Yea, there are mods out there that add the spear skins, and you can make them one-handed (so you CAN have shield and spear) but, you'd have to build all your animations around the spear style (being the files that compose all your one handed styles, be it daggers or maces or swords) and it would just look goofy if you were using anything but the spear.

 

While I'm not the best animator, I know for fact its possible to do thrusting animations. The default twohandskill1attackpower for DMCStylish(special anims) is a 1 handed, reach back and thrust kind of motion.

 

Anyway, I digress.

 

I have no clue about script writing/editing.

 

If someone could provide, or tell me how to right a script ( i have no clue at all tho, never tried) that, when a certain weapon is equipped (i.e. a one-handed blade, with a spear mesh, would have to be specific to that weapon, i know), the game looks to a DIFFERENT folder than the default /data/meshes/characters for the attack animations.

 

I figure this might be something similar to Mayu's Animation Overhaul, that directs the client to look to a different folder for NPC animations, so all the PC animations belong solely him/her.

 

If someone can provide or instruct me in creating such a script, I think I could fumble my way through some so-so animations.

 

But if anyone knows of or is working on some new animations that would compliment a spear and shield style, please let me know! I've already picked a few from DMCStylish that would compliment the style, and have started on idle, run, and block animations.

 

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

 

My hope is to get this mod out to the community!

OBSE has a command that can do this, I'm sure. But scripting isn't my strong point, so I can't help.

Yea. There again, I haven't tried scripting in any way, shape, or form. I have OBSE, just don't know how to use it.

Really just need a guiding hand. I'm not expecting anyone to just up and do the work. I mean I'd lavish you with praise if you could though ;)

 

I'm talking like, when you switch to the 1h spear, you're going to take on an entirely different stance, use different animations for power attacks, block/blockhit/blockidle, regular weapon thrusts/swings, the works.

 

But all of it will amount to nothing if I can't figure out the scripting part, lol. But like I said I've already started on the animations. If nothing else I'll just use it for myself, and just delete/copy the animations out of a folder when I want to use the style, hahaha.

When I get time, I plan on experimenting with "staves" designed as spears with a 'trap' node at the point to execute the weapon damage. I'll post the results and requirements if I'm successful.

Not a bad idea man, but I think its been done with Spears of Cyrodiil. At least I think. I thought about doing that to, but spears do not have multiple regular attacks, or power attacks. You'd pretty much be limited to the basic staff thrust motion. :(

That would be awesome! I haven't had any luck so far with mine.

 

I've sent a message to Mayu, asking how they scripted the game to access different folders. If I knew how to do that, if the game will reload folders like that (like between keystrokes) I'd have a starting point.
