NamelessTree3
I am trying to edit a custom race by removing racial abilities and adding new ones, as well as editing the starting attributes. After that I save it then head into the game to test it. However, it doesn't work. The mod works itself because when I change other vanilla races, it actually works. The only problem is that the custom race doesn't recognize what I just did with it. Please instruct me of how to properly edit a custom race. AzirAphale001
Are you trying to edit the original esp, or create a new file that is dependant on the original esp?
NamelessTree3
Are you trying to edit the original esp, or create a new file that is dependant on the original esp? I am editing the original esp. But I am creating a new file but is independent of the original because it is the original plus more. The reason why I am doing this is to keep the original esp as a backup and to track progression
NamelessTree3
maybe this will help you http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...ting_a_new_race Thank you but this did not answer my question. The page explains the basics of creating a new race. But it does not answer the problems that are occurring. I am simply editing a race in which the game does not recognize the changes of the edited custom class. Example) I am changing the custom race's strength from 50 to 30. After I create the mod and test it out, the game still returns the custom race's strength as 50 (rather than the modded 30). The mod still works with other vanilla races however. Example) While I am changing the custom race's strength from 50 to 30, I am changing a vanilla race's strength from 45 to 40. My result is that it works properly with the vanilla race's strength but not the custom race's stength
AzirAphale001
That could be it. Try making a back-up of the original esp, then applying your changes to the original esp. Oblivion can't handle esp-esp dependancies. I hope I explained that well enough.

I do have a questioned, I have never edited an original esp itself for the reason that I can't save it because it tells me I am using it as a master file. How would I do as you suggest? NamelessTree3
save your changes to a new esp that you create Sorry had bad connection to this website. According to what you say, then you bring me back to step 1. Where I started with this topic.
AzirAphale001
I'll try to explain it better. You need to use the same esp that contains the race to change anything about the race. Maybe someone else can explain it better.
