tgs1985
I just notice a problem with my Skyrim. While at night, the stars seem to be moving across the sky very choppy, or at a low frame rate. Nebulas/milky way is also really fuzzy. Now I do have several Addons the could affect the night sky and I've tried disabling them all with no luck. That are as followsVibrant AurorasSkyrim HD - 2K Textures - 1.5 FULL - MiscClimates of TamrielRealist Lighting OverhaulHPL Night Sky - High 2Shooting StarsI had actually notice the problem when I installed Shooting stars, but not sure if it was because of the mod or because I had a reason to stare at the night sky. That said tried uninstalling it and didn't make a difference. I then tried installing HPL Night Sky instead of Skyrim HD - 2k to see if that was the problem. Still no difference (in that while different skies, stars still move across at a low frame rate). Could there be any other addons that would be a problem (I had a mod heavy Skyrim)? Or am just noticing an downside to the game I never had before because I was too busy killing dragons instead of watching the night sky (although I swear I have before and the night sky looked grate and star moved so subtle I never notice it).Any help is appreciated and if you need more info regards what addons I have and my spec of my machine let me know. fiewiel
Skyrim updates the weather & lighting in intervals, for example the sun/shadows dont move fluently, just wait for a sunny day and see for yourself. You can decrease the update times, but I dont know how, would have to google around a bit. tgs1985
Oh wow, I haven't ever notice that until now. Ok so I guess was right. The game's not broken, I've just looking at something I've never noticed before. Ok well that was easy enough. Thanks for the help.
OlivierDoorenbos
EPIC 2020 necro-post:I have new information on this. The update rate of the night sky hemisphere rotation gradually slows down the longer you play skyrim on the same playthrough. It starts completely smooth, but by about 100-200 ingame days, the update rate gets perceptibly slower. By 400 ingame days it has reduced from the original 60 fps to about 2 fps which is why the flicker / pulsing is so obvious. The reason why most people never see this problem is because most people don't play a single character for more than 100 hours. But for the few of us who play a character for 1000+ hours, its an annoying thing when looking at the night sky. I don't know why this happens, but I speculate it has to do with some of the internal clocks in the game engine that persist with your save file having a limited number of significant figues - as time goes on and the decimal point shifts, we lose significant figures behind the decimal point resulting in larger discreet updates of the night sky. There is no fix that I am aware of, however there are effective mitigations available - chose night sky texture mods that have a less sharp smoother star texture - this will greatly reduce how noticeable the flicker is.
