Slaiv
Age of Empires I and II so great - the fact that there were no riflemen, cannons, etc... I don't know why, but the fact that there likely won't be melee units kind of dispels my interest...Age of Kings had cannoneers, bombard cannons, bombard towers, and even cannon galleons. In fact, Imperial Age Turks rely almost entirely on gunpowder units.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>Gunpowder isn't melee. I don't want this comment to sound racist [because it's not intended to be].The fact that one of the key races is the Native American race turns me away. They were simply not meant to be part of a strategy game. The Western frontier turns me off as well. Cowboys, etc.... very un-RTS like. Give me the old civilizations, and I'll be fine. Pack Rat
I change my statement, it was not months but several days and it was before 04-01. I never form an opinion about a game based on screenshots cause 95% of the so called screenshots are photoshop-edited and I seriously doubt about the honesty of these screenshots. If true I fear enormous FPS lag :P

Matt
Gunpowder isn't melee.I know that. That was the point of my post -- they aren't melee units. The fact that one of the key races is the Native American race turns me away.I don't believe the Amerinds will actually be a playable faction. They're just in the singleplayer campaigns, as I recall. Abramul
If true I fear enormous FPS lag :P<{POST_SNAPBACK}>It's all a plot to force you to buy a better computer  Seriously, if the new generation of FPS games runs acceptably (albiet at low graphics settings) on mid-end computers, there shouldn't be a problem with this. ShinJiOh
Sounds like a made up figure to me -- give me some examples, please.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Homer: Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. Forty percent of all people know that. :D From what I can see, the picture in question could just be a picture of a cutscene where troops fight in the streets. Otherwise imaginew having to maneouvre all those little b@$t***s around streets you can't see around, and while I realise you CAN zoom out, whats the point of being able to zoom in so close as to impair your vision? ...*me wonders if the cathedral in the background looks breakable*... Dark0ne
Empire Earth let you zoom in to ridiculously close maginification just for aesthetic purposes.
ShinJiOh
Yeah, but having looked at the picture a second time, it has to be a cutscene. Look at the size of the city, it goes all the way to the horizon. In comparrison to the men, If you got attacked from the north, I'd hat to get attacked from the south. ZoFreX
The foreground of the screenshot is just about believable for in-game, but the background: no way. It looks like they've photoshopped it in there for effect.
Pack Rat
Screenshots edited by photoshop to add some effects that make the screenshots just 'waaw'? Allmost every game m8. World of Warcraft, SWG, Mafia, etc etc etc... They edit the screens to give the illusion they actually come out of the game but the screens are rarely the originals. Mostly it are light effects, graphics which are given more details. They say the HL² screens are original cant say if not or if they are, havnt played HL² yet.
