Ever sense installing the newest DLC I crash every single time I save a game. I can load fine, I play fine (with the random CTDs ofcourse). but not I can't save. Because of the random CTDs that have been a thorn in myside sense I reinstalled the game afew weeks ago I save ALOT. No saving means no playing, anyone have advice? And yes, I use mods, to many to name, the big ones are wasteland player, FOOK and MMM.

This is a v1.5 patch issue.

The problem is this:

[technical stuff]

When you enter an exterior cell with non-persistent items added by a mod via an esp, and then leave the cell, attempting to save crashes the game from that point on. Interior cells seem to be unaffected.

[/technical stuff]

Beth broke something in the 1.5 patch. IIRC, FOOK and MMM (and I would guess "Wasteland Player"as well) are known to cause problems, though, generally, any mod that adds something to the wasteland will usually be an issue (since hardly anyone sets the "persistent" flag unless they have to). Try turning off all of you mods, backup you saves, and walk around the wasteland for awhile (I mean go somewhere far away from where you are). Start turning on mods, one at a time and repeat. You will see which ones cause the problems.

One work around is to reinstall, update to v1.0.0.15 and use the latest version of the Fake Patch, though some people have had issues getting that to work right, it seems to be a tricky install and not for the technically faint of heart...

Another, and more complex plus time consuming method is to edit your mods to set all the non-persistent items to persistent. Probably not a practical choice for many, including yourself (with the ">>>TOO<<< many to name" comment).

Hmmm... I think it's wait until they fix it for me. I tried the turning them off and back on method but the very first one I turned back on was FOOK (so not playing without that) and it broke. I can't do the reinstall and update method, I got mine via steam, so it'll install at the latest version. Thanks for the reply, just wish it had been better news :)

Any word on Beth working that issue? Just curious.

I had installed 1.5 and experienced the save crash myself. I'm rolling back to 1.4 which was not giving me this problem, but that's turning out to be a little painful too. I tried the easy way out by just overwriting the 1.5 with the 1.4 patch, but the bug once installed seems to stay for lunch. Rolling all the way back via a complete reinstall now... ouch. :wallbash: Anyone else seeing the bug perpetuate on a plain overwrite?

I thought I should let you guys know how to fix this.

Un install Fallout3, re install, then patch to V1.4

Problem solved.

Solved but only if you have a disk copy. Sense mine is via steam, if I uninstalled and reinstalled it would reinstall with the latest patch, in this case 1.5.

Figured as much when the overwrite wouldn't work. Rookie - wish we had a better answer for you on the stream version... I'm lucky in that I have the disc.
