I am a novice modder, tinkered with custom NPCs and Followers in both New Vegas and Fallout 3 but never tried anything like this. I found a mod for a player home that I really enjoy ( NV Goodsprings Prospector Shack by WestEmperor) but the thing is I don't like the location. I really don't want to make my home in Goodsprings. I was wondering is their a way I could move the whole building, not just the access door, to an area near 188 Trading Post? If so would it be something I could do with limited experience or should I ask for an experienced modder to do so?

The easiest way to do it, so far as I know (I'm pretty new to modding as well), is to build your own "copy" of the exterior where you want it and then just link the door(s) on the new building to the interior. It's not too difficult if the building was built with a kit and even easier if it's a prefab. Plus, it would give you the opportunity to alter the exterior (and interior) as you see fit.

Well, I was reading a tutorial last night before I went to bed and realized that you can select objects and use the classic Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste. I guess I never really tried to do so as I always just use Ctrl+D to duplicate and have never had cause to copy/paste anything. I'm not certain if you can copy from one cell and then paste into another, but I don't see why not. Though, I looked at the mod you specified and it seems like there is a lot to copy, so it could be a bit of a pain.

You can just hold left click and highlight what you want, then hold left click over the object and drag it to where you want. I know there's an easier way, I just can't remember right now. You might want to fix all the navmeshes once you've moved it (fill in the old spot and form it around the new spot). Don't try to copy the exterior cell, and there's no need to copy the object. So yeah, just drag it across the wasteland nv worldspace until you get to the 188 Trading Post. I'm sure someone will come and tell you a much more efficient way, but I thought I'd at least give you a way to do it.

The click and drag method DOES work, but from what I've experienced experimenting with that method, it can be quite a pain. Often times when moving objects over even small distances, I run into control problems such as objects flying "off screen", objects not staying where I move them when attempting to adjust the window, objects deselecting themselves, etc. Those issues are compounded when attempting to move objects over larger distances. I'm not saying it can't be done, but there has to be an easier way.

The best way is to highlight all the parts relevant to your superstructure (portal markers an all that stuff too) press CTRL + C, go to your preffered location and press CTRL + M.

This'll move your entire selection to this new location, its a much easier way of moving things long distance.

Be aware though, you will still need to make sure its level with the ground, I'd recommend using Z as you drag downwards, this is better than F as that can have unpredictable results when highlighting several objects.

see, I knew there had to be an easier way... I didn't even know about Ctrl+M... even better than my Ctrl+V solution... at least that way, you won't have to go back and delete the old one...
