New to Oblivion modding, so...

Recommended Posts

My only previous modding experience is with Spore, which is all scripting, so I'm a bit lost. And even then, finding the files when scripting with Oblivion is way different (although the process is exactly the same). I kind of had to teach myself with Spore, and I learned then the best way is to try and then just ask when you go wrong.

So I've gone wrong. I tried to make a certain weapon an instant kill when you use it while sneaking without being seen. I looked a bit more, and more... I just can't find any way...

Would the only way be to make it an enchantment or something like that? And even then, I wouldn't know how to add an effect like that with a spell.. enchantment.. whatever.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I think.. You'd make a script, then make a new spell/enchantment and it will have some option like script effect or something, click that choose yr script.. and attach it too the weapon.

I'm pretty new to this too so if what i said doesn't work or make any sense then sorry! :)

You probably would have to make a script that checks whether you are detected or not, and maybe modifies the weapons attack and possibly your skill. Not sure which would be more effective, but there may be a similar mod out there which you can check how it was made. You shouldn't have to enchant it if you use a script, though enchanting it with fortify sneak would certainly make sense. Incidentally, you can add enchantment via the drop-down menu from the main window of the CS, the one you would use to load your mod from, and can add new enchantments in the magic effects/enchantments section of the item window.
