LordOdin009
Hi I am a big fan of the first 3 fallout games 1, 2, and tactics. I have played through them several times each. I recently built a new computer so I could play Fallout 3. I had several questions regarding this. 1. First which patches are recommended? I know that people have problems with the newest patch, and there is also an unofficial patch available. Which patch/patches should I install that will allow the cleanest run through the game. I plan to create a mod with the GECK soon will any of these patches conflict with the GECK? 2. I would like to add some mods that increase the graphic beauty of the game such as higher texture packs, sun glare ect. Can anyone recommend good ones which again will not conflict with the game or the GECK? I might even like to try a few mods that re-balance the game as I often find games too easy. 3. What other programs will I need to make my own mod? I know I need the GECK, and fallout mod manager. Are there other files that I should download and if so which versions work the best together. I would really appreciate any help that could be given.
SpeedyB64
I currently use the first patch (1.0.0.15 or something like that) and fake patch (read through the fake patch thread on the official forums for more info) There are a LOT of mods (I probably have 100 or so)The 14mm auto pistol is nice, also the Wattz laser weapons, the p94 plasma rifle is a must. Wattz:http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=300214mm:http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2592P94:http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2527Use the search function and you'll find tonnes of stuff Patches don't do anything to the GECK so no worrys. The programs you need depend on what you want to doFOMM (Fallout mod manager) is an absolute must.http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=640Nifskope (editing nif model files)http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=6064 Happy modding!
LordOdin009
So assuming I install some mods that alter textures, add/change weapons ect. and then I make a level in the GECK will that make my mod incompatible with other peoples games that aren't modded? I ask because If/When I release a mod I want it to be as user friendly as possible. As far as total overhaul mods which is consider the best? Tony the Wookie
If you are like me, and absolutly hate looking at the crappy default hair, then you should check out my mod, I think it makes the game much more visualy appealing... but thats just me, some people actualy like the default hair... http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5718
